Well I’m not excited about ‘real’ Italian cooks. I prefer the Americanized versions. However I prefer true Chinese dishes over the Americanized versions..much richer in flavor and body.

Mexican food even moreso. Mexican everyday average family table food is 100X better than the best American version, even when prepared by Mexicans. Something happens when the recipes and cooks come north. Lard as a key ingredient is just one small part.

I agree. Best Chinese i’ve ever had was in a restaurant in Chnatown, NYC called Big Wong’s (no joke). No one spoke English, and you couldn’t get a plate of Kung Pow or Lo Mein. But order some lamb Congee, sweet bread (not offal), bok choy, some chicken and duck with dipping sauces and you’ll never order Chinese takeout again.
As for the Olive Garden, … mushy pasta, flavorless or hyper-salty sauces and ridiculously high prices keep me away. Besides, if I want pretty much any dish on their menu, I’ll make it myself.

This American household is eating leftovers tonight. I just had two slices of from scratch pizza with leftover taco flavored ground meat and Mr. b finished up the sweet and sour pork thrown together from other leftovers. Real Italian and Asians cooks weren’t invited.

Every time I’ve been there, mexican cooks/dishwashers were in the kitchen. Not a fan, however I did like Buca De Pepo’s , Nothing beats homemade.
