Social media video shows passengers helping get control of the man on Flight 1730 Friday night.
A video from the incident on Saturday morning shows passengers scrambling to restrain the man during his attempt to open the cabin door mid-flight.
The man had repeatedly shouted that he would “take the plane down” and assaulted two female flight attendants, a spokesperson for Oklahoma City Police Department told Insider.
At one point, flight attendants called for able-bodied men on the flight to come help subdue the passenger.
“Thanks to the crew and passengers of Delta Flight 1730 (LAX to ATL) who assisted in detaining an unruly passenger as the flight diverted to Oklahoma City (OKC),” the spokesperson said in a statement. “The aircraft landed without incident and the passenger was removed by law enforcement. We apologize to our customers for the delay and any additional inconvenience this caused.”

A Delta spokesperson confirmed the incident happened on Flight 1730 from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
The spokesperson said that the passenger was involved in some earlier issue on the flight, but did not immediately know what sparked the fight or who the passenger was fighting with.
Despite some social media posts suggesting the passenger may have tried opening the plane door or that it was an attempted hijacking, the Delta spokesperson said that was never the case.
Anyone think that the instant justice was insufficient? Maybe if he had been carried out in a body bag other hijackers would have second thought.
I really do not want to take an airplane anymore. Ugh
Didn’t this just happen on a Woke Delta flight from LAX to Nashville last week? What exactly is going on? We know Woke Delta is interested in virtue signalling and lying about Georgia’s new voting protection laws. Does it mean they aren’t focused on basics like passenger security?
A 911 style attack will never happen again. Passenger will fight to the death if someone tries to take control of an aircraft. Congratulations to the people in this video.
You could issue a blackjack to everyone who boards a plane and we would be safer.
Good Americans still outnumber the crazies. *

I wish more people understood the physics of how aircraft cabin doors work. There is no reason to risk injury to oneself to try to prevent someone from trying to open a cabin door on an airliner at altitude. There are thousands of pounds of force keeping that door in place. Arnold Swarzenegger at his peak physical conditioning couldn’t have opened one.
I think if I was in a fight for my life attempting to prevent the hijacking of the airliner I was on I would take my mask off.
It's probably not so much the claim and attempt to open the door as it was the assaulting flight attendants and overall disruption to the operation of the aircraft that prompted people to get involved.
The left calls that “toxic masculinity” Thank goodness for it!
Why didn’t a solo 110 pound girl take him out, you know, like in all the movies and TV shows these days?
With spinning roundhouse kick ! A chance to demonstrate “girl power” by doing it in the narrow confines of airline seating !
I carry a couple of HVAC flex duct straps in my carry on backpack in case something like this occurs. Think a giant zip tie about 4’ long.
“The pilot called all “strong men” to the front of the plane to restrain him.”
Has the pilot been punished yet for using the term “strong men?”
Even in the face of danger, there is no excuse for language that excluded and diminished so many.
(I’m not serious.)
“toxic masculinity”
Heard of that. It caused me to stop buying Gillette products.
My guess is that most people DO understand the logistics of it. They understand there are thousands of pounds of force keeping that door shut, and no one is that strong.
Even so, emotion can override logic when you are completely vulnerable. When you are several thousand feet in the air, speeding faster than a bullet.
Fish out of water syndrome, where we are that fish.
Most of us have seen movies where someone actually does find a way to pull it open. Yes, it’s ‘just a movie’, but for many, that image stays in the brain.
‘Flight attendants’ called for strong men. The girls know who to get to help.
That’s my understanding of “instant justice”.
