Sorry Henry, “There can only be one.”
They will make the purple haired harpy from star wars be conner mccloud, the dr who chick as ramirez and bruce jenner as the villain guy
How about something NEW that hasnt already been done?
Reboots, remakes repackaged garbage.
How about coming up with a new movie idea?
New movie ideas don’t make the hundreds of millions that they desire.
A Quiet Place was original, and quite good.
Another one was As Above, So Below.
Didn’t make $$$, so it was forgotten.
Gone are the days of the 1980’s John Carpenters and James Camerons making simple and original films like The Terminator and Escape From New York on shoestring budgets -using guerilla filming techniques, miniatures, and rear-screen projection.
I sure miss the ‘80s.
Brandon Routh wasn’t available?
I loved the TV series, very well done. Loved those guys with those long coats on then they pulled out their swords and weren’t at it.
There is just no need for a reboot, the only thing they can do is have better Special Effects.
They did a movie on Netflix that was a rip off of Highlander which I saw, it was okay, I think it was called The Old Guard with Charlize Theron in it.
Love to see Hollyweird coming up with original ideas and great casting.
No talent.
And....yes people do like things they’ve heard of before.
Costarring Patrick Leahy as Lex Luther.
The guy wgho did Gladiator and Time would seem a good fit.
The TV series with Adrian Paul was the best.
Sorry I don’t see it (or should I say hear it?) No where near the same style.
Ironically, it would be a handful of examples where I think a Reboot is totally justified (the other recent examples are Dr. Dolittle, which sadly flopped, and Dune, which has been delayed until Oct. 2021 and could be great or terrible, the jury is out). The Highlander universe is terribly convoluted at this point and every film besides the first one has been a train wreck, so the best thing to do is use the original 1986 film as a starting point and build a new continuity from the ground up. The basic premise (Immortal humans who can't die unless killed by another Immortal) is an intriguing concept. I'd probably bring in the idea od Watchers from the Highlander TV show, but do it totally differently. And they need to incorporate the iconic Queen musical tracks from the original film. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Re: Henry Cahill as Connor MacLeod. Meh. LOOKED like Superman but never sold me on the character the way Christopher Reeve did (to be fair, Cavill was stuck with awful scripts that made him a bland stotic ass kicker). I've seen him in other stuff though, and I was not impressed. (His ideal role would have been the live action version of Gaston in the Beauty & the Beast remake, which Hollywood totally dropped the ball on) IMO, they should cast an ACTUAL real life Scottish actor to be Connor in the remake. I don't see Cavill as suitable for the part at all, aside from it being an "action role" , the story has to show the characters anguish at being cast out from his clan and seeing everyone he ever knew grow old and die, having to live a lie and conceal his true identity, come across as a "normal guy" in public, etc., etc.
Its possible they could surprise me and pull it off (I though Colin Farrell was absolutely horrible casting for the vampire in the Fright Night remake, but he turned out to be the BEST part of the movie!) But, whatever, I am going to assume it will suck until proven otherwise.
I never really watched the “Highlander” franchise, actually, so I don’t have an opinion on it one way or the other.
Oh don’t worry they’ll figure out a way to screw it up...
Make all the immortals women, who have lived so long and around each other so much they all cycle at the same time...
Don’t leave out movies aren’t made for American’s...
Only movies that the Communist Party of China will allow to be shown, are made these days....
