The fight for “equity” in higher education is a story-driven project.
As the Annie E. Casey Foundation explains, “To illuminate racism, we need to ‘name it, frame it and explain it.’” This process is essential because “a common language creates a narrative that makes it easier to communicate the commitment to racial equity…and creates a platform for coordinated work toward equitable outcomes.”
The “narrative” is essential because stories shape our values and vision of the world. As Jonathan Gottschall explains in The Storytelling Animal, whether they concern historical or religious or completely fictional characters, stories encourage us to do the right thing, to make a difference. Reading Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin, for instance, reputedly inspired many to fight against slavery in the American Civil War.
Yet taking stories as a guide to the world can be equally problematic, as Miguel de Cervantes portrays in Don Quixote. His protagonist goes “mad” from reading books of chivalry, which shape his perceptions of reality and give him a sense of purpose.
Imitating his heroes, Don Quixote becomes a knight errant to fight oppression and demonstrate his virtues.
Or so he thinks.

The entire article is well worth reading.
It exposes the whole "equity" idea as that of a small group imposing their ideas on society by force.

The entire concept of “equality” across people is a fool’s errand since it assumes that “talent” is equally distributed...not normally distributed, but equally distributed. That’s simply not true.
I used to tell my Intro To Econ students that I could end poverty overnight. They all agreed that was the number 1 goal. (This was in the 1970’s when poverty was $9600 for a family of four.) They begged me for the solution. I said: “Simple. Get all the people who make $9600 or less, line then up, and shoot them.” Their eyes went as big as pie-plates and much teeth-gnashing erupted. After they calmed down, I asked them: “How long will it be before the person making $9601 starts bitching that he’s the poorest person in the land?” We then proceeded to have an intelligent discussion of income distribution and the meaning of work/reward.
The Participation Trophy generation thinks the system “owes” them an income. They glorify the poor and denigrate the rich. Perhaps that’s why so many of them still live in their parents’ house...they don’t believe in work/reward. So, ask those basement-dwellers how many have parents who were hired by a poor person.
The left now rejects the idea of talent. They say it does not exist. I heard on Dennis Prager’s show this morning that California is poised to adopt that outlook for the state’s schools.
A narrative is propaganda.
LBJ and Blacks’ behavior have made Black results inferior.

So yeah I noticed the left dropped the term “equality” and supplanted it with the term “equity” by simply changing the definition of equity...
They claim equity has the same meaning...

Equity is commonly known and used by most people as home value that is above what it owed on the mortgage....implying ownership,wise use of income, and increasing value of an investment....
Equity is earned if one maintains or increases the value of this investment...its not a reward...or a handout...
The left is using the term equity...because equality is no longer the desired goal...nor is equal outcome...
Using the term equity instead of equality
Allows the left to give preferential treatment to minorities and openly discriminate against white people...as though this preferential treatment has been earned...that preferential treatment is OWED...that discrimination against white people isnt not racist at all...its simply countering “white privilege”...

Racial equity really means a person of color is MORE equal...because they earned preferential treatment by merely existing...
It’s no longer acceptable to judge anyone by the content of their character....that is now white supremacy....one must be judged solely on what color they are...regardless of character...that alone determines guilt or innocence...action or motive....punishment or reward....because equity...or something...
So we get where we are now...cash bail is racist...riot, looting, arson, and murder are valid acts of protest and not to be punished or stopped...laws are racist...credit scores are racist...crime rates are racist...mug shots are racist...perp descriptions are racist...criminal recorded are racist...the justice system itself is racist...cops are racist...including the black cops...IDs are racist...math is racist...gravity is racist...babies are racist...home values are racist...travel is racist...good schools are racist...sports are racist...education is racist...being successful is racist...being punctual is racist...classical music is racist....highways are racist...dating your own race is racist...straight men refusing to date men in dresses is sexist..and racist if the men in dresses are black...criticism is racist...meritocracy is racist..work is racist....capitalism is racist...
And last but not least:
Reality itself is racist.
So the cunning linguists on the left once again try and change reality by changing the definition of something...as though calling a baseball bat a pillow will make it hurt less when used as a weapon..or that racial equity is equality....such beliefs are not logical and will simply be scoffed at, ridiculed, or ignored by non emotive thinkers....
Words are not magic harry potty and words do not change reality.
But it works on liberals...triggers emotional responses...and liberals act out based feelings...and they accept this illogical ambiguity and alter their perception of reality to fit the desired narrative...
It is so because we said so...
