I mailed an old friend some usb drives with audio and pdf and word doc files. She is even more of a techtard than I am and cannot plug usbs into the only devices she has, which are an Iphone and Ipad. I am trying to assist her long distance to access the info I sent her and have searched to no avail as I do not even know the model numbers of her devices, or whatever they're called. If knowing the model numbers would help I can get them from her.
So..does anyone know if there is some device that can have usbs plugged in to be able to listen to audio? Or read on?
Any helpful ideas very welcome. This is my oldest friend and she is going in for surgery in a couple of weeks and being able to listen, and read from a device, would be very helful for her.
Hmm, I suppose I could do that, I have never used Google Drive (yes we do hate gulagle, don’t we...). Just via email I can’t send much audio, tried many times. Not enought speed. I have hours and hours of audio, maybe a few hundred hours.
Is it Qtard stuff you are trying to send?
of course this may be useful to
Okay, I see. Sorry, my misunderstanding.
It is true YouTube has lots of videos that may help, and I understand that lots of people hate YouTube and Google. I do, too. But hey, we’re trying to solve real problems here! :-)
Anyhoo, I Googled it and this page looks pretty interesting for someone trying to do what your friend is trying to do => https://www.bing.com/search?q=connecting%20usb%20to%20iphone&qs=n&form=QBRE&sp=-1&pq=connecting%20usb%20to%20iphone&sc=5-24&sk=&cvid=7C011D9CF9FC456CBE7A0EEDE52CAAF3 . At least I hope so. If not, I’ll shut up and let the pros handle it!
Maybe you should have tried posting to a computer forum and not a political website.
Duh!

5 gig or so of audio? Google drive has a limit of 15GB for the free version. As long as she can get to WiFi where she will be reading/listening this is the best easiest solution.
On top of that you can set this up all yourself and just securely grant her access to the stuff. Her side would be much more simple than having to find the connected USB drive, find the files, etc.
Just freepmail me if you need help.
You have been here since 2k and you dont realize this place has some very helpful people?
Sheesh...
That’s why MS and Android platforms are besot with malware and Apple devices aren’t. They don’t support corruptible technology.
Well he did post it under the Computers/Internet topic.
Exactly.
sounds to me like google drive is your best bet
Is there a place with decent WiFi close? Sitting in a McDonalds eating lunch for the 20 minutes 5 Gig would take doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Yes. 20 years after USB technology became common and somebody still doesn’t know how to use it is justification for calling them out on it. My 86 year old mother with dementia can manage USB and Apple devices. Even she knows they don’t mix.
you need a turbo encabulator adapter
It might be easier to move the audio files off the USB so she doesn’t need to buy the adapter. Maybe she can borrow one or find a store where there is a nice person who can lend her one and help her move them.
Once on her phone or tablet she can delete the files she doesn’t want to keep.
But the more important question - what’s on the audio files?
Yes, I've heard the debate for years. Still, Apple could provide the software to accommodate USB which is a common and portable data transfer device. It's Apple that is her problem . BTW, I despise Gates' politics.
Copy them all to Dropbox and sign in on her iPad. Done.
If you car has USB input, as most do these days, you can download your audio files to a USB flash drive and play them there. I just moved my audio files from my ITunes application to a flash drive. Note be sure your flash drive is formatted first to FAT32. Took me quite a while to discover this when my audio files were skipping in my car.
THere are a lot of smart tech people on fr.
My friend will be fairly incapcitated for quite some time after surgery so car audio won’t be useful for her.
