Unfortunate for people who just want to walk down the street without smelling the stuff.

Is driving under the influence of pot even illegal?

Can police even test for it like alcohol ?

Just like cigarettes. I have to confess that the smell of marijuana, for me, is nowhere near as bad as the smell of cigarettes (I like the smell of cigars). It’s also significantly milder.

No, I’ve not touched Mary Jane since 1977.

BATFE doesn’t care if it is legal in your state and prohibits gun sales and if you lie on the form can prosecute, unless you are Hunter Biden.

I believe they're working on a test now.

I suppose folks will be growing it at home...then running to the school yard...

You can say the same about tobacco smoke. Criminalize the ultimate negative effects. Like car accidents caused by intoxicated drivers. Or those who use guns to murder. Not The objects. People have the right to liberty. Misuse would be the crime.

Still illegal to drive while intoxicated with anything, and yes they can test for marijuana in blood and urine (not sure there’s a breath test like there is for alcohol).

For good or ill, With this administration don’t think it will remain illegal federally for very long.

It’s tricky. I don’t know all the technicalities but it’s not as cut and dried like testing for alcohol.

So... cigarettes are bad and to be taxed 500% to "discourage" smoking and not be sold to minors but smoking marijuana is good. Got it. Makes perfect sense to hypocrites.

The State of New York just publicly declared that cigarette smoking is not bad and as such the taxes need to removed.

As of today you can tote up to 3 ounces of weed around, and smoke it on a park bench in front of a cop, and you’re not breaking any (state) laws.

After the initial harrumph, I imagine things will settle down, much as they did in Amsterdam. It shouldn’t take long for the social rules, etiquette, to evolve.

And the biggest anti-marijuana push will be to get minors to refrain from using it, with the simple logic that marijuana makes you stupid and slow.

One of the most effective such PSAs was a one hit wonder music video, called “Because I was high”, by Afroman. It seems to be a pro drug song until you realize that it is a lamentation that he missed out on the good things in life because of marijuana use.

Of course, there is a caveat to this that Democrats run New York, and they are masters at ruining things that should be useful, beneficial, and reasonable.

As a kid I used to smoke pot but that phase had long ended. Last year I tried one of my friend’s gummies they use for pain management. The THC in it sent me for a loopy trip. Not for me anymore. A little buzz from the wine now and then is about my limit for a ‘high’.

People can immediately possess up to 3 ounces, and it's legal to smoke in public.

But if you pull down your mask to inhale, you will be shot by the NYPD. Be sure to get the bong with oxygen mask attachment when smoking on the street.

I agree. I think the ship has sailed. I expected Trump to legalize it in his second term — not because it’s good, or because he supports it — but just because you can’t have so many states ignore the federal law. Time to face facts and remove the federal ban and just make it a state affair. No one says Oklahoma has to legalize it. They can have a ban if they want, but nationally, a ban makes about as much sense as alcohol prohibition.

You think they’ll surrender that kind of leverage over gun owners?

I’m wondering what percentage of Americans now live in States with legal weed.

Big deal - we can have 8 ounces (half pound) of just the flower plus other derivatives in my red state.
