They were too often about grabbing headlines, and less interested in other things. J. Edgar Hoover's involvement in the JFK assassination should give everyone chills.

I don't think he understood until after the election how corrupt that institution is. I think the FIB needs to get dissolved in the kind of corporate "streamlining" process that permanently retires the bad management types, but keeps those who actually do the work.

Both of them at times hinted that if Trump made a move against Rosenstein or Wray or Mueller that they'd support impeachment. They wanted him hamstrung and wanted to appear as if it wasn't them doing it. So they empowered the coup by refusing to investigate it and suggesting that they didn't support it but that they'd vote for impeachment if Trump stopped it. And to avoid accountability for hamstringing their own party POTUS they thre the 2018 house elections so the dems could take over as the face of the opposition.

And some folk here will rage against the FBI while supporting Mitch McConnell who actively supported them in all their misdeeds. Because 'he gave us the judges'.

So who was available to do the shoving... especially early on?

Not the military!

So who is left?

CIA was compromised.

FBI was compromised.

who is left to deal with that armed group?

The FBI was openly hostile and trying to remove Trump for the first two years.

They immediately followed Muller with the first fake impeachment.
