Trump vs. the 'RINOs': Will Republicans That Backed Impeachment Survive?
National Interest ^ | 3/2/2021 | Fred Lucas

RINO, the pejorative acronym for Republican In Name Only, wasn’t widely used if at all in 1868. But if it were, it would have doubtlessly been applied to the seven senators that voted to acquit Johnson. It’s a rather remarkable loop in history that the first Senate trial of an impeached president would have the same number of Republican defectors as the most recent.

Every presidential impeachment has happened amid a political culture war—and the post-Civil War Johnson impeachment was over how to carry out Reconstruction. The cultural divide in the Trump era is vast—but not comparable to the postwar Johnson rift. Impeachments are also typically highly partisan affairs, and the Johnson case was no exception, but Republicans held a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress, so opposition seemed an afterthought.

Will Republicans That Backed Impeachment Survive?

Hopefully not. I'd primary Murkowski with a rock star conservative. I'd also go after most of the house folks in 2022 who Trump listed.

if they want to stop being useless, they’ll switch parties and try to primary the D candidate in their districts, since they’re not going to make it through the R primary anyway.

If you believe that we saw widespread voter fraud and government corruption in 2020, then I sincerely hope you realize you havn’t seen ANYTHING yet.

That is why conservative patriots in the GOP will most likely not win another national election from this point forward... ONLY Corrupt GOP RINOS will win.

The democrats NEED the RINO republicans in congress to maintain the illusion of hope for the moral majority.

Unfortunately she doesn’t fear that anymore - without even being on the ballot and with both conservatives and the Republican Party against her...she still won. That’s why she has been even worse than she was before.

I wonder how or if this will effect things: Following voter approval of Ballot Measure 2 during the 2020 elections in Alaska, this will be the first U.S. Senate election in Alaska held under the new election process. All candidates will run in an all-party, open primary, from which the top four candidates will advance to the general election. Voters will then utilize ranked-choice voting during the general election.[3]

Oh golly. That makes it even worse.

She literally has nothing to fear...and she would not even have to worry about losing the backing of the NRSC like last time as there is no “nomination” - she will be a Republican candidate no matter what and the incumbent. She would almost certainly be in the top 4 as the incumbent US Senator.

It’s best to just take a pass on Alaska.
