Reopening America is going to bring a reckoning
American Thinker ^ | February 22, 2021 | Terry Paulding

...Besides the caterers who had no events, think of the venues that hosted weddings and conventions that have been idled for a year, then add in the rental equipment companies that brought the linens, glassware, and china. They can't all have survived. And then there are the small photographers, florists, videographers, and event planners. The wholesale food suppliers may have fared a bit better, but from what I can see, a lot of them are probably gone, too.

That's just one example. There are more, across every aspect of our economy. There is a depth of field in each market segment, and, like an arrangement of dominoes, they will be shown to be among the fallen. Our economy has been devastated, and it's going to take years to bring it back.

The large online retailers have managed to solidify their monopoly over local retail. For example, at the hardware store last week, I looked for storage lids for canning jars. I use the jars to store a lot of things and hate having those two-part canning lids to deal with. Said the storekeeper, "I haven't been able to get those for the last 6 months." Yet go to Amazon, and you can get them in black or multi-color....

The people who worked in closed and failed businesses have been surviving on unemployment benefits. Once we finally reopen, can those be kept up? Where will the jobs be?...Another strong motivator to stay shut down as long as possible will be the elderly population that has been warehoused, away from family, in nursing homes. When visitors can again be admitted, there's going to be plenty of horror stories....

People have no idea of the damage that has been done. American is just the exoskeleton of what it was. The meat is gone. The jobs are gone. Manufacturing gone. Service industries, going. Societal cohesiveness, long gone. Political will corrupted. The barbarians are no longer at the gates, they are within. As soon as the ruling party figures out how the genocide will start. All the talk in the world is not going to change a thing Talkers always lose to people of action.

The worst damage out of this is the knowledge that the government can so easily shut everything down...including your own business. Who wants to own or start a business under those conditions?

Odd all the lamentations expressed here over “small” business. H-1B has been killing US IT and medical workforce job opportunities for decades and that gets nary a ripple of attention on Free Republic....

The truth is over the last year the economy has been doing ok despite the “devastation” caused to small business. This shows that the concept(myth) that small businesses are the BACKBONE of economy is total BS.

Nothing is going to happen to the tyrants or the business “leaders” who went along with it. Articles like this are useless.

I suspect many here make money in some way, shape or form by having the Cheap Indian Labor Express constantly running

The most common of their retorts:
Americans are just plain stupid, lazy, unskilled and can’t compete
You should have taken up welding, electrical, plumbing (or some other skilled blue collar job) after high school
There are jobs if you can get a clearance
Stop whining and go work in a meat packing plant, do farm labor or construction (that was one of the best)

Remember, only Trump opposed the Cheap Indian Labor Express
All of the Republicans in Congress are pro-Indian worker
All of the Democrats in Congress are pro-Indian worker (for a different reason)

Just remember - if Donald John Trump had not organized and facilitated Operation Warp Speed, this would still be getting worse.

DO NOT FOR A MINUTE ACCEPT THE LIE that cases are going down because of Biden. Cases are going down because of the “Trump shot”, and don’t let them forget it.

I like the myth they push about small business being the “backbone” of the economy. Hardly. If you want to see an economy where small businesses and agriculture are the primary form of wealth creation just visit and central African country.

Cases aren’t really “going down” because there never were that many. The numbers we were given were manipulated to manipulate us. Now that SlowJoe is in the White House they’re able to cook the books to make him look like the hero. That was the plan all along.

Just like masks, physical distancing, lockdowns, etc., it’s not about the virus. It’s about power and control.

Or SE Asia...
Sari-sari stores everywhere. Small food stalls everywhere. Not enough to live on, only gives people something to do to pass time as there are no jobs.

Look at the SBA PPP and EIDL Loans. “Small” business like the LA Lakers and Shake Shack qualified. While real small businesses got screwed.
