It is with profound sadness and eternal gratitude that I note the passing of Rush Limbaugh today. A truly great American in all senses of that designation, a brilliant radio artist and the de facto leader of true conservatism in the United States for 30 years, he was truly one of a kind.
Rush’s wife, Kathryn, opened his radio program today with a heartfelt statement to his 25 million+ listeners. I won’t deny shedding a tear or two as I listened to it and tried to take in the impact his loss will have. Talk radio as it has existed for the last generation existed because of Rush. His influence in the country is unrivaled in the history of the media; not just of radio, but of all media in this country’s history. No other single figure even comes close.

With his passing, there is no obvious replacement, no conservative pundit capable of taking up the torch and keeping the fires of conservatism burning. With no true national voice to guide the way, the loss of this great American will be every bit as impactful as the loss of Donald Trump and his presidency.
God Bless Rush Limbaugh for all he has done for us, God Bless his family and God Bless America.
That, sadly, is all.
OMG, a day I was dreading. I do not see a ready replacement for Rush on the horizon. He was able to see to the heart of a matter at a glance and cut through all the goo goo for us. I weep for his loss, for him and for us.
Listener since 1992. Actually, I started by watching his tv show at 12:30 in Amarillo, TX.
I haven’t always been a consistent daily listener, but I always knew that there was a 3 hour chunk of time where he’d be on the radio and I tuned in often.
No one else comes close to his mix of humor, politics, and positive outlook.
He will be greatly missed.
Rush is returning his talent on loan from God. One of my few best friends whom I never met. :(
What are the chances the flag will be flown at half staff?
Totally concur, others will fill part of the void, no one can replace him.
May God bless him as we pray for him.
We have to find a way to carry on the legacy of Rush. I’ve been forever shaped by decades of his insight and that won’t be leaving anytime soon.
God Bless You Rush. Thank you for so much.
I’m sad. Lost a 30 year friend. At a time when the country needs him most, he will be greatly missed.
....I dan hardly with to see the venom which will surely flow like water from the left.... watching on Fox news the moment when President Trup presented Rush with the Medal of Freedom....watching that bit*h Nasty Pelosi just sit there and chew her teeth.....wait for it...the left hated Rush and all that he stood for....the vitriol is on its way....
I found Rush on the radio during the Gulf War while looking for news to listen to while working around the house. His humor and political views matched mine and so I became an instant fan. Rush is one of a kind and has left a huge footprint for the good. May he rest in peace.
The worst of news..... listener since 1991. There is no replacement for Rush. Can never be.
RIP Rush.
This vacuum will be difficult to fill.

I haven’t cried in a long time. I’m crying today.
All I can say, after so many loving posts; DITTO
Now the vile, gloating comments and hardly concealed rejoicing by the left will begin.
RIP Rush
One of a kind and I will very much miss him
A long time ago, a black conservative friend introduced me to Rush’s radio show. I could get it in most of my travels in N. California.
Locally, he was on the local conservative talk radio station and other conservatives. So when I was here, I could listen with no problem.
I had a few am stations that carried his show except for a few black hole areas.
Fortunately, many of the counties up north were and are still very conservative. So, a few AM stations carried his show live or recorded. The push buttons on my vehicles’s radios enabled me to find him most of the time.
His show was like Radio Free Europe for many of us living in the left wing bay area with left wing am stations, tv and newspapers.
Other Conservative talking heads parrot the party line. Rush though outside of the box. He could look at a situation and offer a perspective that was original and straight to the point. He set the agenda for the day.
Someone has to take up the mantle now and it starts with us.
Courage? This man had it. He was attacked and targeted by everyone and responded with an “in your face” spirit that said he would not be silenced or diverted from his cause.
The cause? The unfailing belief that individual freedom and Liberty was the solution to all life’s problems and not some central behemoth that seeks to be the controlling authority over every aspect of our lives.
I hope he is at peace knowing that in this existence he made a profound difference.
There was nobody in radio or TV (when he had a show) that could compete with him. He really was the Doctor of Democracy. He has left us soldiers here to carry on with all the wisdom he has imparted. We are still on the battlefield and will carry his banner forward to victory. Rest in peace, Rush.
