The first rifle on my list is the venerable Ruger 10/22. Designed to mimic the size and weight of the historic M1 Carbine, this compact weapon has made a name for itself as one of the most accurate, reliable, and affordable .22s on the market.
It works great for small game hunting or propped by the back door for varmints, and with a 10-round magazine, it can handle self-defense in a pinch. There is also an endless list of aftermarket accessories available, so you can customize your rifle with ease.

Strange that you would comment on something you never saw ...
“Do you eat the coyote?”
You can but Road Runner tastes much better.

Ruger .22 is nice but I still like my Remington Nylon 66 better.
I’ve got many different semi-autos.......AR-15s, etc.
The best rifle I have is a Chicom SKS.
100 yards and in shoot a 50 cent piece dead on making figure 8’s.
Power and accuracy is amazing.
The attached box magazine can only take 20 rounds delivered via stripper clips but it’s an amazing rifle.
The 7.62 round is effected for all needs.
They penetrate less than pistol bullets or buckshot pellets, so, unless he was advising not using any firearm at all, his was not sound advice. Small-caliber high-velocity projectiles shed mass (fragment) and energy when penetrating such materials to the extent that recent developments in LE/mil projectiles have sought to improve terminal performance through intermediate barriers.
That would be after ZA has begun. He said house.
Yea, I wasn’t really speaking about sights. Still, I prefer red dot sites over lasers in all situations. Pistol or rifle, with a little practice, they are second nature. Inside my house, I am most likely point shooting.
I like the longer barrel on the Judge.
7.62 is better. I saw one go through a door, a wall, a bathroom vanity, all 4 layers of an old cast iron bath tub, another wall and finally through about 20 classic rock albums. It broke up into 3 pieces actually so it made 3 holes after it hit the bath tub. Good times.
Okay, I admit I only read the article so I could throw stones when the PTR 91 wasn’t on the list; but it was. Guess word is spreading.
hmmm. After going through a wall the 9mm has one lethal piece while 6.56 has two or more!
Willing to sell a fellow freeper 100 12 ga.shotgun shells?
In other words, about average for '19FortyFive'.
I agree if you can find a reliable M1 carbine at a reasonable price. The price of M1 carbines has gone through the roof. Also, I have owned 4 M1 carbines and only one was reliable enough to consider for self defense. I had one that I completely rebuilt (all new springs, new extractor, etc...) and could never get it to reliably eject. I took it to a gunsmith who was known for working on M1 carbines. He told me that some of them "just don't work" because while all of the parts may be within "specification," the original specification was too loose to ensure reliable operation. It was a good plinker, but it would jam every 20-30 rounds.
They make one with an 8” barrel. I can’t imagine what that’s lie to shoot in the house.
I’ve wanted for a long time to do an experiment.
Take the same essential gun in the same caliber. Like the Judge vs the Governor.or a 3” barrel .38 police special versus 5” barrel.
You quickly [less than 1 minute quickly] strap on a laser sight.
See how much difference a laser sight makes. Is it worth 3” of gun barrel? 4 inches?
In order to see the lame-o blogger's article I would have to click on the link thereby giving the lame-o blogger an impression, which puts money into the lame-o blogger's pocket.
Per JimRob's own words, that is NOT what FR is about. He does not mind lame-o bloggers posting their material here as long as it's posted in its entirety so that the discussion is here, on FreeRepublic and not on some lame-o blogger's site.
IMO, the fact that the lame-o blogger posts an excerpt clearly shows that they see FReepers only as a source of revenue.
Proof? Point out all the replies in this thread by the original poster, Onthebrink, who just joined FR on Nov 25, 2020
No. I take out coyotes so that they don’t harass my neighbor’s calves. He is running about 40 head on our land.
