We’re All Jacobins Now
National Review ^ | 2/2/2021 | Kevin Williamson

American politics used to be stuck in the 1930s, with the Republicans always sure that a military buildup was necessitated by the ascendancy of some new Hitler in some distant land and the Democrats always convinced that we are on the verge — or in the midst — of a New Great Depression that can be countered only by a New New Deal. We haven’t quite got out of the 1930s yet — see, e.g., the “Green New Deal” — but perhaps it is time to look around for some other points of comparison.

Drivel.

As far as I can see, National Review is declaring the GOP to be a Leninist revolutionary party which is at war with reality, refusing to accept objective truth.

I guess AOC and the 52 genders are more in keeping with Wm. F. Buckley’s magazine.

Williamson is just a nasty, Never Trump turd floating in the conservative punchbowl. He and his grifting NRO "we're too polite to fight" pansies need to be ignored.

They're the conservative equivalent of wokesters whose primary role is to provide ideological cover for cheap labor, big business rapacity.

The problem with elitist pseudo-intellectuals is that they can craft their drivel into something that on the surface sounds sensible, while in reality is just a facade to mask their arrogance and self-righteous indignation over we peasants and peons.

I’m beginning to think the only readership holding up National Review anymore are those who post their articles for derision...

Does anyone else remember when the National review was a conservative publication? I have a vague remembrance of having a subscription in the late nineties and not despising all of their writers and positions. Maybe it was a dream.
