Meet the CDX-50 Tremor – the name alone would likely give Second Amendment opponents night tremors.
At just under 23 pounds, the bolt action Cadex CDX-50 Tremor is the lightest .50 BMG platform on the market today – a full 10 pounds lighter than the Barrett M107 used by the U.S. military.

I have a Serbu AR single shot .50 BMG. It has a rather stiff but manageable recoil impulse. It weights nearly 40 pounds.
The recoil from a rifle half that weight would be quite a thump.

Wow that is pretty big. I have nothing that powerful, however, I can’t even shoot these days as I can’t find ammo anywhere.
Strangely enough .50 BMG is available and at $3.00 each it’s not terrible. Match grade stuff is more, of course. I grabbed a couple hundred ball rounds before things went nuts.
L
That is not too bad. I just get upset at paying now $2.00 a round for 9mm lol.
I agree. Used to have a Barrett and it wasn’t much fun to fire. Can’t imagine something with even more recoil!
My current .50 is a McLaughlin and it’s about as much kick as my .308
I’m so glad I learned to reload years ago and have been squirreling components away for the last several years. Grabbed surplus military pull down powder 8 pounds at a whack, primers 2,000 or so at a time, and premium projectiles before everything vanished.
Whenever Midway had a “factory second” bullet sale I’d order 1,000 just because. I’ve got a big pile of Sierra 77 grain OTMs just waiting to get stuffed into brass.
A motivated guy would be at the press cranking out soft point 5.56 rounds and selling them for $1.00 each right now. But I’d rather have the ammo than the cash. LOL

Bkmk
The Serbu is about like a 12 gauge slug gun. Not terrible. But the pressure wave off to your sides is rather formidable. After about 10 rounds I’m done with it for the day.
L
Wow...some of you guys shoot some really big guns...expensive stuff too!!
Me? I just shoot empty cans with an old, single-shot, 1898 Winchester 22-02. It can shoot shorts, longs and long rifles. I usually just shoot .22 shorts in it as I haven’t seen any .22 longs in the last 40 years. I stay away from the LRs as I don’t want to wear the barrel out. I guess I’m just a cheap old dinosaur.
Pricy.
1800 meters range.
4GW.
Nice.
A local gunsmith I know who custom builds our state police sniper rifles has several awards for distance
Not many places in my neck of the cornfield where there is nothing for 2 miles though

There are many opponents of the Second Amendment, including more than a few politicians, who would like to see a ban on .50 caliber rifles. The Giffords Law Center described such firearms as “among the most destructive weapons that may be manufactured and made legally available to civilians in the United States,” and claimed that such a rifle “can hit targets accurately from distances of 1,000 to 2,000 yards, depending on the skill of the shooter.”
Such hyperbole could actually be excellent selling points for a .50 caliber, but the truth is that few terrorists or criminals would ever bother using such a weapon because the keyword remains “skill.” The most accurate rifle is only going to be as good as the shooter, and then there is the issue of price – and for the cost of one .50 caliber weapon, criminals could buy a dozen handguns!
For serious law-abiding shooters, there really is nothing that compares to the power of a .50 caliber and while Barrett has set the bar for its line of true high-powered rifles, Canadian-based Cadex Defence has another option for those who want the power but not the size of a Barrett.
Meet the CDX-50 Tremor – the name alone would likely give Second Amendment opponents night tremors.
At just under 23 pounds, the bolt action Cadex CDX-50 Tremor is the lightest .50 BMG platform on the market today – a full 10 pounds lighter than the Barrett M107 used by the U.S. military.
Introduced in 2015, the CDX-50 Tremor is built to military specs and is capable of delivering its payload accurately while still maintaining very manageable recoil. It is easy to see why the Tremor has become the preferred firearm of law enforcement and even the Canadian military as it proves ideal for long-range sub-MOA (minute of angle) engagement.
The Tremor features a specially designed muzzle brake that works in concert with the barrel and chassis, that reduces the recoil and keeps the rifle on target allow for follow on shots, which can be critical in combat. It also features a finger-grooved rubber ergonomic grip, tool free fully adjustable folding stock, and standard bipod/sling stud. The weapon has a Bartlein R5 fluted match grade barrel with a stainless steel three-lug bolt with a 60-degree trigger, while the oversized trigger guard and magazine release were designed to ease use while wearing gloves – something our Canadian-friends thought would come in handy.
The CDX-50 Tremor also features a full-length top rail with inclination built-in, allowing it to be adapted to meet the needs of civilian and military shooters alike. It is even available in more than a dozen colors to match just about any tastes from the generic black to the paramilitary friendly O.D. green to robin’s egg blue.
About the only thing not to love is the price and at $9,000 it isn’t cheap, but quality never is. As the company has touted, it is “military strong, civilian ready” – even if some politicians don’t like it.
Don’t expect that to change anytime soon...
Pretty soon, we’ll have the National Weather Service and Buffalo Census Bureau ordering a few million rounds of every caliber imaginable along with every other federal agency with a budget just like Obummer did...
Must watch....
“I just shoot empty cans with an old, single-shot, 1898 Winchester 22-02.”
Beware of the man with one gun. He probably knows how to use it.
L
Be careful. That could lead to legal issues. But you and I are in the same place as to stocking up components.
“That could lead to legal issues.”
Yea, that’s another reason I haven’t. That and I don’t want any of the stuff I make coming back at me someday.
L
Lucky me.Just snagged a box of 1000 9mm. Luger for .49/rd.
