It's easy to guess the states people are leaving. Can you guess the top states where people are headed?
The above numbers are on a percentage basis of inbound to outbound moves, not absolute numbers.
The report is from North American Moving Services.
People are fleeing California for Texas and Idaho
Illinois, New York, and New Jersey are the three states with the most outbound moves.
The top five inbound states in 2020 are Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina, with Tennessee overtaking South Carolina from the 2019 results.
Florida, Texas, and Colorado round out the top eight states for inbound moves.
Despite pandemic, people continued to move at rates comparable to 2019
Phoenix
Houston
Dallas
Atlanta
Denver
New York
Anaheim, Calif.
San Diego
Chicago
Riverside, Calif.
I am disappointed the report did not have absolute numbers, making the study flawed.
Nonetheless, Idaho is interesting.
Idaho has made the top 10 each year since 2015, most of the time on the top of the list.
Congratulations to Idaho and of course Illinois in reverse, a state I have written about many times.
Q: Why does it take 3 weeks to leave Illinois?
A: Everyone is leaving and that is how long it took to schedule a one-way van out.
"Everyone is leaving. No one is coming," a U-Haul agent told us.
We love it here in Utah. The photo opportunism are endless. There are 7 national parks within 5 hours or so of where we live.
They added that the pattern also suggests that people moving from moderate partisan counties are just as likely to move to extreme partisan counties as they are to move to other moderate counties. However, people who live in a politically extreme county are significantly likely to move to a similarly extreme county
Do people move because of their politics?

AKA, Republicans fleeing California may move to conservative areas, but moderates move to conservative areas and vote “purple” or liberal.
And the cancer spreads!
“We barely speak English and don’t like yankees.”
I’ll say.
I’m a native Virginian and y’all look sideways at me!
Most of those moving from Democrat states vote Democrat.
Once again, where do you get that? Could your provide links which document or substantiate that?
But what I do know and see is nationwide, public government schools churn out a conga line of millions of newly graduated brainwashed leftist from these public schools. And this is likly a huge factor as to why some states are going from red to blue.
My family settled in Idaho in 1880, some got kicked out and moved to Wyoming, either one is great.
Given this simple fact, I say most of these states trending from red to blue, are likly happening due to their OWN kids from these states being taught America and the right suck and are racist etc, etc. Of course millions of these young people are going to vote Democrat.
See, it's real easy to blame others or outsiders for some of these states trending blue, but I believe the cause are those millions who graduate every years, have spent their last 12 years being thoroughly indoctrinated by the left.
I believe the origin of these issues lie much closer to home than some want to admit.
Hi.
If you are a democrat, liberal, progressive, socialist don’t come to Florida.
We will shoot you.
This has been a public service announcement.

Begs the question, what are you going to do with the millions who graduate from the public indoctrination centers in your state every single year?
How did that work out for Ga and Az? Tx isn't far behind. The 'south' will be bred and migrated out in time. Demographics is war sped up.
Monnesooota and Wisconsin are “balanced”?
I have no idea what that chart means, other than some states are being incrementally changed from red to blue by the *millions* of their OWN young people graduating from these leftist government run indoctrination centers every single year.
I’d guess in nearly every state, probably a million + are being released from public schools and many of them start voting in the years following. Hence, the incremental changes. Now compare that to how many actually move to your state from say, CA. I can assure you, that number don’t even come close to the number of little leftist graduating each and every year from the liberal public school systems.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, you will figure out charts and click on articles.
Mass migration to such states is changing the demographics, especially the via the cities.
Nope, sorry we’re full! NO VACANCY! Besides we have alligators that will eat you when you go outside. Mosquitos that can suck out your blood in seconds. Everyone carries a gun. It so hot I’ve seen people burst into flames just walking down the sidewalk. We have 2 seasons hot and really HOT! Stay out! Save yourself!
Kehoe, Hollywood here, I got your six!
“I live in DeKalb IL...”
We are in DuPage county and are about ready to pack it in. Texas looks good, so does Idaho. And I guarantee we won’t be voting Dem.
L
I provided you with real facts, which should be pretty obvious, which you completely ignored, and in fact didn’t even dispute.
OTOH, you posted some obscure chart. ☺
And by the way, the obscure chart you posted only shows Democrat voters are increasing in some states. But it does not show why or who those folks are. I was addressing where those people originated, which are causing some states to trend up the Democrat numbers.
Only a fool would dispute or deny your own leftist public school systems are flooding your own states with hundreds of thousands or more, annually.
Pay attention.
