If you believe the Department of Defense (The Acting Secretary of DoD has put out official press releases), Vice President Pence has recently ordered troop movements in consultation with the Joint Chiefs and congressional leaders. President Trump isn't mentioned.

You should have seen it Thursday. I went to western MD from AL to visit family for a few days, and in the 20-odd years I've made the trip, I have never seen such a police presence along the interstates. I-85, I-77, I-81, they had every jurisdiction - local, county, state, probably unmarked federal - lining the highways. Even the GDOT DPS police were all over the Atlanta area. VA state police were tucked up in every emergency vehicle turnaround from the NC line to Winchester. I saw at least fifty marked units on the highways, and I'm not counting the last hundred miles of the trip, which was all rustic backwaters, hills, and hollers. It was obvious they were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Yesterday it was back to normal (or they were running from a different game plan). I'm glad the closest I got to DC was Front Royal. I don't know if was (1) precautionary, (2) if they had some tips from the Feds, or if they were just (3) establishing a 'high visibility' profile (closing the barn door after the horse gets out). I think a little of #1 and #3 - the Feds showed they weren't prepared when they got caught with their pants around their ankles last Wednesday.
