The Vegan Conservatives, a new caucus within the country’s Conservative Party, aim to promote veganism among party leaders and supporters.
New group Vegan Conservatives recently formed in the United Kingdom to promote veganism within the country’s Conservative Party. Made up of party members, councillors, and activists from across the UK, the Vegan Conservatives is considered the vegan caucus of the Conservative Party.
As part of the launch of the group, Conservative Members of Parliament (MPs) from across the country have signed up for Veganuary—an annual challenge that encourages people to follow a vegan lifestyle for the month of January and beyond. MP participants in Veganuary include Henry Smith, MP (Crawley); Mark Garnier, MP (Wyre Forest); John Baron, MP (Basildon and Billericay); Christian Wakeford, MP (Bury South); Andrea Jenkyns, MP (Morley and Outwood); Matthew Offord, MP (Hendon); Ben Spencer, MP (Runnymede and Weybridge); James Daly, MP (Bury North); and Dean Russell, MP (Watford).
“We’re thrilled that so many Conservative MPs are going vegan for January, and to officially launch the new Vegan Conservatives group. At the heart of Conservatism is a desire to conserve and protect our environment. Moving towards a plant-based food system is critical if we are to prevent dangerous climate change, reduce pandemic risk, and protect animals,” Andrew Boff, spokesperson for the Vegan Conservatives, said. “The modern vegan movement was born here in the UK, and as Vegan Conservatives we want to build on, and expand, this proud British tradition. We look forward to working with party members, activists, councillors and MPs to champion the case for veganism, and to working with the government to advocate for policies which help protect the planet, animals, and public health.”
A diet for which you would die without supplements.
I have nothing against people if that is what they want to eat, as long as they don’t want to act like it is natural and try to force everyone else to join them in their eating habits.
They will be too tired and weak to fight.
Veganism is a social construct.
Some of that is true. BUT, check out how they managed to survive WW2 over there. Although they had some meat, most of what they consumed was veggies.
Made for a tootin good time.
I don’t believe in a totally vegetarian diet.
But people can survive on lacto-ovo; and with some fishy stuff thrown in.
I believe that some day, we will stop eating mammal meat, by general consensus.
But don’t worry - it won’t happen in our lifetimes (and I really wouldn’t want to live without bacon...)
“An atheist, a vegan, and a Crossfitter walk into a bar...”
“How do you know?”
“Because they won’t STFU about it...”
Immigrants from India and Pakistan?
“some” meat or animal products is enough to survive.
Vegetarian is different than Vegan. Vegetarians still drink milk and eat eggs.
yep...
Good post. I eat a lot of veggie food, including yum bean burgers.
Eat fish mostly Alaskan salmon, pasture-raised eggs, and grass-fed beef. Never eat pork because pigs are as smart, if not smarter, than dogs and are treated with hideous cruelty.
I can never be, and do not want to be a vegetarian, but cruelty is NOT OK with me.
There is no such thing as a conservative vegan.
Conservative and Vegan in the same sentence? Well now!
Maybe that means a Vegan who does not dress in clothing splashed with red paint, then stand in front of a butcher’s store shouting the word “Murderer!” for eight hours a day.
A lot of that has been going on the both England and France.
“Never eat pork because pigs are as smart, if not smarter, than dogs and are treated with hideous cruelty.”
They may be somewhere. I live in one of the highest hog production areas in the world and the ones here have it pretty easy. They are well taken care of, fed well, and attended to medically. It’s just good business practice. As you said they are intelligent. If some of them are being abused the rest know and become stressed. That results in sickness and low appetite, which cuts into profit. Not saying I’d trade places with them.
Agreed. You could simply never trust the person who would identify himself as one.
By definition veganism is not a conservative philosophy.
Not the way it has been defined and owned by by libtards.
Thanks for your comment on well-treated pigs. I didn’t know.
My late brother’s idea of a salad was a can of Veg-All mixed with some mayonnaise.
Why do you believe that?
Bacon & Swiss open face oven toasts for supper last night. Utterly delicious!
