Forget this "new party" nonsense. Even Perot couldn't pull that off in 1992. There's a reason Trump ran & won as a Republican. We must continue to build on the America First agenda and that direction for the GOP.

Push out GOPe just like happened in 2010 with all those TeaParty Patriot candidates.

I think the widespread nature of the Unity Party reaches into each state now, and probably half of each state GOP authority is compromised (you see this especially in Virginia and Penn). The inclusion of Tea Party individuals will only be allowed to a certain degree....to make you think something is occurring.

Perot’s ‘dip’ into politics was more of a slam against George Bush than anything else. Beyond screwing Bush, he had zero interest in winning.

Trying to treat GOP as a monolith is common view. That is, the conception that either we have to change GOP as a whole or not. There are state legislatures. They all have apparatus of political party. Change should be done one state GOP by another.

This is better than creating a new party encompassing the entire country or trying to change the character of entire party. Pick up pieces you want and build up. If some are not to your liking, push them aside. The result can be a new overhauled party or a part of what it used to be. Make a new collection of state GOP as big as possible. Then move on.

"Even Perot couldn't pull that off in 1992"

I sincerely believe that Perot would have been president if he really wanted to. I don't know if you remember, but Perot was leading in the polls when all of a sudden he quit the race with some lame excuse that Bush was interfering in his daughter's wedding. Then when Bush started leading in the polls, he jumped back in.

I think that Perot had some weird unstated vendetta against Bush and just entered the race to siphon away enough votes so that Clinton would win. When it looked like Perot might actually win and have to serve as president he chickened out. Then jumped back in to prevent a Bush victory.

Perot was for a lot of the same things that got Trump elected: close the borders, scrap NAFTA, etc. So if he really wanted it, the presidency could have been his.

After he left, the Reform Party chose Buchanan who was good on trade and immigration, but seen by most people as too extreme on social issues. I think this is why the Tea Party also faded: it started out as an anti-immigration/good-government group but then got glommed onto by libertarians and social conservatives that muddied the message.

A Populist movement can succeed in America, but there has to be a great personality to start it off, and some reasonable succession of candidates to follow along.

Trump, then Trump Jr, then Ivanka or Pompeo, etc. could be a great sequence for continuing a Populist streak. The elites couldn't allow this to happen.

Trump got Huey-Longed.

Exactly! Build from within an existing frame work. We must win thru primaries and local elections.
It’s easy to understand the anger at the establishment but we to throw them out!

You’re a dreamer of the most dangerous kind.

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a new result.

some NEVER learn.

“Push out GOPe just like happened in 2010”

Not a chance of that happening for at least 6 years, until then the GOPe is firmly entrenched with McConnell, Cornyn, Graham and Sasse.

Cause that worked out so well. The GOPEe was not defeated in 2010. Put down your bong.

New party or secession. Voting GOP is suicide.

Hmmsss.. 100 million and counting voters for a new party says the GzpO etc is dead.

You don’t pay the executioner...

Gop and Dnc loose 200 million donation sheep to a Patriots political party..

Gop looses all donations

Gop are Uniparty...

We are going to do to the Republican party what we did to Fox

Bury it and walk away as it fits in hell

Was I too vague...???

Perot was fringe... we have plenty of people to start our own party.
