Texas Senator Ted Cruz is one of the few politicians willing to directly take on New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and it happened again on Thursday morning.
It began when Cruz released a statement about the riot at the Capitol early Thursday morning. Cruz once again made his position clear that the destruction that happened was a major criminal act and that the transition of power from Trump to Biden will be peaceful.
“The attack at the Capitol was a despicable act of terrorism and a shocking assault on our democratic system,” he tweeted while posting his full statement in images below. “We must come together and put this anger and division behind us. We must, and I am confident we will, have a peaceful and orderly transition of power.”

Cruz had already denounced the rioters previously.

AOC, like any good social justice warrior, did not care that Cruz made his position on the events at the Capitol clear and used the opportunity to point the finger at him for the riot happening in the first place. In a tweet, she demanded Cruz take responsibility for the riot and resign along with Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley.
“Sen. Cruz, you must accept responsibility for how your craven, self-serving actions contributed to the deaths of four people yesterday,” tweeted AOC. “And how you fundraised off this riot. Both you and Senator Hawley must resign. If you do not, the Senate should move for your expulsion.”

Cruz didn’t take this lying down and came back down on AOC with a digital hammer.
“AOC, You are a liar,” tweeted Cruz. “Leading a debate in the Senate on ensuring election integrity is doing our jobs, and it’s in no way responsible for the despicable terrorists who attacked the Capitol yesterday.”
“And sorry, I ain’t going anywhere,” he continued. “When you and your socialist buddies try to massively raise taxes, when you try to pass the green new deal & destroy millions of jobs, when you push for amnesty, when you try to pack the Supreme Court w/ activists to undermine our Constitutional rights.”
“I will fight that every step & stand with the People,” he added.

Cruz is correct. Blaming the riots on a legal process of objecting to the results of the election — a not at all uncommon occurrence — is sensationalizing opposition to their agenda. Saying that Cruz stoked those fires because he was part of the opposing side and wanted a debate is effectively making it so that debate itself is considered a resignation-worthy offense.
No matter what side of the aisle you fall on, that kind of thinking is inviting in a very dangerous way of thinking for a free society.
As it stands, Cruz is innocent of any wrongdoing and, in fact, encouraged the right thing to happen on two occasions. Once the debate was over he advocated for a peaceful transition of power and he denounced the destruction and rioting inside the Capitol building.
If anything, AOC is using the riot to push her own political pursuits.
Ted, you need to get your state ready for secession.
After it all filed and done, then let them all have it.
“You can all go to hell!” “I am going to Texas!”
I think it was a bad idea to storm the Capitol but I wasn't there with the euphoria of the moment, so I can't really pass judgement.
I am passing judgement on congresscritters for being chicken chit and not one of them trying to talk to the people in the Capitol.
They weren't beating the cops and I think if just a couple had tried to speak to them--what a difference it would have made.
Congresscritters signed up and took in millions of dollars to sit up there on Capitol Hill-- to REPRESENT people.
Not a one could muster the bravery to grab security and go face the crowd?

Sunch unmitigated poseur bullshit from Cruz.
What we say happen last Wednesday at the capitol was the rebirth of the populist movement in America.
And the swamp wants us to go away?
Sorry, you totalitarian baStards we aren’t going anywhere. Know you all will be a little edgy about where you walk after dark.
There were nearly a million of us and a false flag operation sucked in a couple of thousand, while most of us watched from afar.
It will take a lot more than your pearl clutching and puffing threats for us to disappear. You are scared to death of us. Yes, you want to be.We are still coming for you.
We are genuine Americans, and we will win.
Joe Biden will reap the whirlwind.
RE: What we say happen last Wednesday at the capitol was the rebirth of the populist movement in America.
Cruz wasn’t referring to the mostly peaceful protest in DC. He was referring to the attack and breach of the Capitol building. Don’t put words into his mouth.
RE: He ran for President while Canadian.
That has already been litigated and the courts have decided in his favor.
It has never been decided on the merits.
RE: He thinks we are terrorists when most of us were peacefully protesting.
He never said the peaceful protesters were terrorists. Don’t put words in his mouth.
RE: It has never been decided on the merits.
He has no control over where he was born. He gave up his Canadian citizenship. But why are you bringing this up?
He was articulate in his objection to the election results and LOGICAL and REASONABLE. You would rather make him an enemy instead of an ally in this fight? In the end you will find yourself without anyone to fight alongside you.
RE: The left has hanged Lee now and none of the Republicans stopped them.
Give credit to those who TRIED instead of attacking one of their leaders.
He was referring to the attack and breach of the Capitol building. Don’t put words into his mouth>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Oh really? Then he needs to make sure he does separate the false flag operation from the majority. For some reason he has not done that. Nor have his colleagues.
After four years of attempting the usurpation of a duly elected president and Mr. Cruz does not understand that context as to why the Capitol was breached by a small minority and Ashli Babbit murdered in cold blood? Nome of those 4 years happened. They are lucky the whole building was not set on fire.
.Attack and breach indeed. What about the attack and breach of our president for 4 years? None of that happened or even matters?
That’s very generous of you to point that out.
RE: Attack and breach indeed. What about the attack and breach of our president for 4 years? None of that happened or even matters?
If these did not matter to him he would not have:
1) Voted NOT to remove him during the impeachment.
2) Not Volunteered to represent Trump’s case in the Supreme Court.
3) Not lead a coalition of Senators in objecting to the certification of the election results.
4) Articulated a reasonable plan to determine the truth about fraud in this election while still following the constitution.
Yes, I am generous to point this out because we need more senators like him.
The fact is there WERE Antifa instigators among the peaceful protesters. He needs to point this out and he did.
AOC GFY would have been a better response.
There was no rioting and there was no attack on the Capitol.
RE: There was no rioting and there was no attack on the Capitol.
So, what do we call the breach of the Capitol building?
Another Bon Mot from the barmaid in chief.
I’ll take a dram of single malt, neat.
And this is the problem. Useful idiots on “our” side always try to frag our own people. Brainless losers who aid and abet the enemy by doing so. Notice how the left almost never does that but always circle the wagons to protect their own.
I like Cruz too but I agree. There are times when something it a bit off then he comes through.
Are you really that dense?
Anyone scorching AOC deserves praise.

RE: If Cruz’ wife had not been CFR we could talk...
I think she quit the relationship in 2011. Why bring it up now?

Please pardon this question from a senior citizen, but what is CFR?
