Funny, but...
it WAS the worst year ever for me. Here’s to hoping for better things in 2021.
My family’s been here since the 1630s.
We’ve seen worse.
Some lived through world war and holocaust. I looked things up in a physical dictionary and used a rotary phone, and slept on the floor a few times.
1929 is right up there, and 1945's war rationing puts that year in the race. I was born in the 50s, so I missed the early 20th-century misery.
How could any year be worse than having Mary Ann leave us?
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
If I had to pick one year of my life to spend in jail, 2020 would have been it. As it was, I did do a six-week recuperation from surgery, nearly the same thing. House arrest in either case.
I really wonder how 2020 compares to 1941 or the great depression years??
My 401(k) went up 30% and now at age 58, I can actually retire today if I really wanted to (but I don't just yet, especially since I can now work at home most of the time).
I saved a ton of money due to vacations being cancelled, restaurants being closed and whatnot.
Haven't seen most of my in-laws for over nine months now.
Got a lot of books read and caught up on some older movies I never saw when they first came out.
Really improved on my home cooking skills. I've built up quite the spice cabinet.
Got to look on the bright side!
There were worse years in general, but I am hard pressed to find a year that saw the Constitution crapped on as much as we’ve seen in 2020. Even the allowance of Obama to run in 2008 pales in comparison.
2020 is the worst year of my life but my 89 yo mother says that the early WWII years were the worst of her life. I’m sure some of the older FRiends on the board could speak to that.

Good Point.
I still had indoor plumbing in 2020.
Living in North America in 10,800 BC was very lively with 100 years of constant comet debris falling creating firestorms burning off all vegetation and huge shards of ice kicked up into the atmosphere by the mile wide meteors hitting the Ice Cap and shattering sending razor sharp shards falling in all directions.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
It was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us, we had nothing before us,
we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way
—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
Hopefully you all went to school when English departments still taught literature.....
Great year for tyrants though.
1940 in Britain would have been worse.
COVID-19 was not that bad. Restrictions by our government, now that sucked. Can’t even go to a ball game and drink a beer and eat a hot dog.
2021: Hold my beer...
