How very true. I contend, though, that compared to expectations exactly a year ago, 2020 was the most disappointing year actual-to-expected.
1929 is right up there, and 1945's war rationing puts that year in the race. I was born in the 50s, so I missed the early 20th-century misery.

I was born 1951. I saw something on the news about 1950 - 2000. I thought gee that was a short time on a calendar but a long time when I think of all that has happened. My dad would be 101 now. He saw a lot.

Yep, 10+ years of an economic depression then off to war for 4+ years.

I would much prefer to live in 1929--a great year for music and movies. My favorite musical movie, Hollywood Revue of 1929 came out that year--that's the one that gave us the song
Singin' in the Rain. USC beat UCLA 76-0, our biggest-ever victory over the Bruins. And girls looked really cute in their 1929 hair styles.
