So, the girlfriend of the Nashville bomber made the local FBI office aware that he was loading his RV with bombs a freaking year ago, and the FBI very predictably did…nothing. Just like it did with advance reports of too many school shooters and domestic terrorists to catalogue over the course of this 21st century. It is fair to say, in fact, that this exact narrative is the FBI’s standard procedure in such cases – the agency appears to be in the business of not just ignoring such potential “lone wolves” but cultivating them.

But hey, none of this should be surprising to anyone, given that the FBI is after all a part of the federal government. Yes, the only real solution for this would be for the Bureau to be completely dismantled from top to bottom and reinvented from the ground up. But that’s the case with the Department of Justice as a whole and pretty much every other bureau, agency and department in the DC Swamp.

And none of it will ever happen. Let’s be real here.

I may have missed it but that is a police report. Where is it confirmed the FBI or more important the BATFE was notified? The BATFE would have jurisdiction here. Also the state has investigative jurisdiction through TBI. Were they notified?

The FBI didn't 'do nothing', they ran a standard background check on Warner at the request of Nashville police and came up with nothing suspicious. Meanwhile the girlfriend, who is described at the time as having a mental break down, was placed on a psychiatric hold and given an evaluation.

Warner didn't have a criminal history or any work/military background to suggest specialized knowledge of explosives. He wasn't a suspect in a crime, and refused a local police request to search his motor home and premises.

Unless you favor some big brother type monitoring with unlimited resources, what else was law enforcement supposed to do at that point?

Seems like if you get a report of somebody making explosives, you might want to check out where they’ve been doing their shopping; maybe check out a credit card receipt or two.

The ingredients list is pretty specific.

Maybe if I drove an RV to Cenex and bought 1000 lbs of 60% nitrogen fertilizer that might trigger a suspicion.

Maybe they would have been able to stop him, maybe not.

That’s right. In another clean-election term, DJT would have had a lot of leeway to clean some of those skunk holes up. But “ifs” aren’t all that useful. On the ground, the facts say we’re going to have violence in this country in the coming months and years.
