The funny thing is that if I had free rein to choose my classes in college I would have taken a few more technical classes instead of the liberal arts classes I had to take to make me "well rounded". I don't recall any history majors taking semiconductor physics although science and engineering students had to take English, history, psychology and such.

This is a luxury involving both time and money. It is similar to having enough excess money to buy fine wine and then having the leisure to drink it slowly.
When the base layers of Maslow’s Needs are met only then is there the excess time and money for self actualization.
