The Great Covid Class War

(Yes, a little old, but really worth the read. I hope this is OK.)

On January 19, 2020, Washington state reported the first US case of coronavirus. By the end of March, 245 million Americans were under stay-at-home restrictions to “flatten the curve.” Mainstream news terrorized the public with exponential graphs, threats of a medical supply shortage, and displays of hygiene theater. Appeals to science were weaponized to enforce conformity, and the media portrayed anti-lockdown protesters as backwards, astroturfed white nationalists bent on endangering the public.

Today millions of Americans have fallen into poverty or are on the verge of destitution. Stimulus money has largely been used as a handout to corporations, and over 160,000 small businesses have closed. In March and April 30 million Americans filed for unemployment. Now temporary job losses are becoming permanent. 12 million unemployed people may see their benefits lapse even if Congress passes a new aid deal. Homelessness is spiking, 11.4 million households owe $70 billion in back rent and fees, and 40 million people are at risk of eviction. In some states, food bank lines stretch for miles, and 1 in 4 children are expected to experience food insecurity.

Meanwhile, Walmart and Target reported record sales. Amazon tripled its profits and Jeff Bezos made $70 billion. Billionaires have collectively made over $1 trillion since March. Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft now make up 20% of the stock market’s total worth. The tech industry has achieved an unparalleled level of wealth and dominance. Data, which has been more valuable than oil since 2017, is expected to expand its economic footprint.

My Daughter had it on January 25th. She gave it to me, my wife, her husband and 4 kids. She works in the Emergency Room and got it from her friend that works in a different emergency room, both in Arizona. We all had it and survived just fine before it was a political disease.

The “elites” have been trying to use the virus as a weapon to turn America’s middle class into a lower class of obedient, frightened serfs.

They’ve spent the last 100 years trying to render us all peons and peasants until the end of time

This is an interesting idea...a leftish populist magazine. Sort of like a cross between Trump and Bernie.

The upside of this publication is that it is spot-on in its criticism of the left, perhaps because it IS left and "gets it." For example' consider what the author writes at the end:

A great theft is occurring under the pretext of safety. It is not just the theft of working people’s jobs, savings, and property—it is also the theft of a meaningful life...The beneficiaries of this neo-feudal dystopia are the ownership class, tech CEOs, investors, NGOs, and private foundations... Our fantasy of a sanitized and deathless society has created a world where the home is a prison and friends and family are a health hazard. In this world children are told they are killing their grandparents simply by existing.

Unfortunately, BECAUSE it is a left publication, it fails to understand that left statism is the CAUSE of this situation. As I've written before, it is patently offensive that lily white affluent urban woke snowflakes demanded shutdowns so they could feel safe getting Whole Food deliveries in their HEPA-filtered flats at the expense of 25MM hourly wage and chiefly minority and poorer citizens who CANNOT telecommute.

A prudent response would have protected the elderly and kept businesses open. But the left can't be pro-Business, so it championed the shutdowns and STILL loves masks etc.

This publication succeeds but fails, but it's is better than many others. Thank you for the tip and welcome to FR.

Related to your first comment, there are a lot of former Bernie Bros who got red-pilled over at TheDonald.
