Macris points out that in 1800, even with constitutional deficiencies in Georgia, Thomas Jefferson blithely counted defective electoral votes from Georgia, effectively voting himself into the presidency. This demonstrates that the president of the Senate is the final authority on any motions or objections during the vote-counting. There is no appeal. That doesn't mean there won't be any outrage. Whatever Pence does, people will be angry. But what does the law demand?
Best outcome is Pence will void the EC delegates and this thing goes to the House....where the people are represented.

All of his career he has played it safe, I don’t see him doing anything that dramatic.

There are no dueling slates of electors. There is one slate that was certified and then a non-certified slate that some republicans got together and voted for that absolutely have no meaning.

So, essentially what you’re saying is - NOTHING CAN BE DONE ON JANUARY 6 BUT TO RUBBER STAMP WHAT WAS CERTIFIED ( even if we know that the certification was fraudulent) ?

That is what he is saying.
The officially certified by the Gov are the only ones that will be accepted.
The others are unofficial sent by the state Republican party.
Pence COULD accept them, but probably won’t absent a GOP Senator joining the House members who want to fight the steal.

Exactly. There are only two ways to stop Biden from becoming prepay this stage is;
1)a court rules that the election was fraudulent across several states and should be redone at some level. So far Trump and the people fighting this in the courts are currently 1-60 so this is unlikely.
2)some sort of coup to keep Trump in power. I use the word coup because without a court ruling determining the election was fraudulent the military, federal law enforcement agencies, etc, will view it as a coup and will crush it.
The fact is that people, even the president, claiming the election is fraudulent, means nothing. The default position is that the election, any election, is valid, unless proven otherwise by our legal system. That has not happened.
