this rate, the Empire State is on track to be a former empire.
Citizens voting with their seat and leaving blue states for red states is no new phenomenon. The Daily Signal reported back in 2015 that even then, there were 1,000 people moving from blue states to red states every day, on net balance.

NO, NO, NO! Ill-ANNOY, WE’RE NUMBER 1 !
As a Long Islander, we are thoroughly disgusted with one small part of the state dictating election outcomes. A 3 term IL DUCE has decimated a once great state through insane Socilaist policy. Average property taxes are over 13000 a year, for a modest home , with no end in sight. The Republican Party has literally ceased to exist here. People are getting out while their home values are still good. I shall be next !
New York and California are dying for ONE reason, and one reason only.....insane socialism.
When will Democrat voters in blue states realize that the party of JFK, Harry Truman, and even Bill Clinton, completely abandoned them when Barack Hussein Obama came on the scene ?
The problem is they bring their BS political view with em only to spread the liberal/communist cancer.
They seem to NEVER learn their lesson.
When a populace has been totally disarmed, taxed to death in every conceivable/imaginable way possible, treated like cattle, it’s either fight or run. There’s no way to win fighting, so they’ve chosen to run. One can’t blame em, but PLEASE leave the crappy lib/commie politics behind.
The same policies that charge $13,000 in property taxes also chase out employers, leaving a McJob/welfare economy that doesn’t sustain that level of taxation. The gubmint caste continues to thrive on outside injections of cash (see the ChiCom flu pork being debated), while the homesteaders flee.
For a while NY and NJ hoped to limp along with trafficked foreigners as the dupes, but they’ve learned and quickly realize there is no future here.
What industry could, or would, support the level of gubmint spending in those states? NJ has been losing “real jobs” for decades now, because employers see no point in paying the gubmint worker caste so much salary and incredible benefits any more than the average Joe does.
Democrats are desperate to “nationalize” socialism (sounds creepy, no?) because their base suffers from these policies as long as there are greener pastures (states with much more economic freedom, usually because the gubmint worker caste is less entrenched); they want all fifty states to be equally oppressive so companies don’t move. If it comes to that, many companies would probably just leave the country or fold up; nobody runs a business/employs people to lose money or even break even (not worthwhile).
“property taxes are over 13000 a year, for a modest home”
Average, folks.
That’s AVERAGE.
Modest house where I grew up? taxes last year were
$24,000.
2 Grand a month. And there are many HIGHER taxed properties there.
And no, I’m NOT kidding.
Another Cuomo accomplishment.
Crappy weather + crappy politics motivates more people to flee.
Of course, there are GREAT places with crappy weather that see the crappy weather as a price to pay to avoid being overrun.
The powers left in the city are leaving the lights on. The walking tours on YouTube for NYC Manhattan show lots of people walking around AND lots and lots of lights - Christmas and otherwise.
Or roughly three times what I pay monthly for a nice 1/5th acre corner lot with a ranch style house and spacious barn (14' x 40') in a 70% Trump voting suburb of Pittsburgh . . . and that include all taxes and insurance as well as the house payment.
I've always said when it gets to the point that keeping warm in the winter requires a lot of hard labor, you will see the freeloaders heading south.
From May to October, a lot of derelicts would hang around skid row because they didn't like the no alcohol rules at a Lutheran church run flophouse a mere six blocks away. Of course, by "a lot", I mean a relative handful by big city standards.
Once cold weather arrive, they either headed south or learned to live with the rules.
Yeah I can’t see this as being a good thing. I hope I’m wrong.
We do have to consider that some of the people leaving are conservative voters. It’s not like these states are 100% to 0% Blue voters.
Illinois seems to be the same way. Once away from Chicago, most of Illinois appears normal.
Could we please put a fence up to keep these people from poisoning the south with their corrupt & evil political bullshit!?!?
You are not welcome here. Just move to another liberal hell hole. You’ll feel at home.
It’s hilarious to me that vapid Yankees spend their lives mocking the south & calling us inbred ignorant rednecks. Then they move to the South!
Turns out, we’re the smart ones who don’t vote for godless American hating slaves to China.
You know those lights were bright on Broadway
But that was so many years ago
Before we all lived here in Florida
Before the mafia took over Mexico
There are not many who remember
They say a handful still survive
To tell the world about the way the lights went out
And keep the memory alive

Here comes the “they’ll make my state blue by moving here” crowd.
If liberals can make every state blue by moving to it then liberals are a huge majority of this country and we should stop worrying about outvoting them anywhere, they are going to rule by sheer numbers.
It’s time to find another country if you believe that.
True of many states...I’m thinking voter fraud for past couple generations may be the key
