After More Than A Decade Of Divisiveness, Don't Expect Calls For Unity To Work

Everywhere we look, it seems there’s a leftist talking about how important it is for Joe Biden to unify the nation. It’s not overly surprising. After all, if the nation unifies in the next two years, it increases the chance that Democrats will make gains in both the House and the Senate in two years, rather than lose it as normally happens.

It also means a better chance for a Democrat to win in 2024, whether Joe Biden runs again or not.

However, what these progressive voices need to understand is that their calls for unity seem a bit hollow after more than a decade of divisiveness.

See, this is the party that labeled any and all criticism of President Obama’s policies as racist. There could be no good-faith debate because under the surface was the fact that you knew the progressive in the room thought you were a racist.

Over and over, we saw op-eds that made this case, claiming that at least some of the opposition to the president was because of race.

Well, yeah, racists opposed Obama, but they are such a minority that they simply didn’t matter on the political stage.

The opposition to Obama was fueled by his policies and his attitude. The man elevated smugness to an art form. He’s the one who famously told Republicans during a discussion on a stimulus package, “I won” as a way to tell them to sit down and shut up.

There is lots of “unity” once a people has been conquered and subjugated.

Silence equals assent.

Speaking — or taking action — gets you arrested or killed.

That’s how totalitarian states work.

Now, shut up, citizen — and comply, Or Else.

If Biden truly wants unity, then:

1) Let Biden and the Democrats drop their plans and rhetoric for revolutionary change;

2) Drop the winner-take-all attitude that with 50% + 1 of the vote that they have a mandate to shove their agenda down the throats of all Americans, and seek true bipartisanship where they will not pass any new laws without the support of the Republicans;

3) Drop all the rhetoric about “white privilege” and the evils of “toxic masculinity”;

4) Immediately pass legislation that would require photo voter ID, end vote-by-mail, eliminate computer voting, eliminate same-day voter registration, and mandate that poll watchers have free and open access to all ballots as they are being counted;

5) Remind judges that their role is to adjudicate cases solely on what the Constitution and the law actually says, not on what they would wish it to say, and pledge—and be faithful to that pledge—to appoint judges that will do so ;

6) Enforce immigrations laws as they are presently on the books;

7) Stop trying to force the acceptance of the LGBT+ agenda, including the insane idea that men can be women and vice-versa; and

8) End the creeping hostility toward Christianity.

This would be a start.
