That sounds like a vasovagal response and has nothing to do with being squeamish. I used to watch my blood being drawn too. I had a vasovagal response to a 4+ tube draw and passed out. What happens to make you pass out is that your heart rate suddenly drops because not enough blood is getting to your heart. My ER doc recommended I lay down when I have blood draws to mitigate any vasovagal response.
So.....what happened to the vaccine, that was supposed to have been in your flu shot??? Crazy.
I have a crazy ‘flu shot’ story, too.
Years ago....I was getting really sick, where my allergies were turning into a chest infection. Doc told me to come in for a steroid shot...so it would stop it in its track.
The nurse (I’d seen/known for years) came in, commented on how busy they were with flu shots, and proceded to give me my steroid shot. She said, you’ll be feeling 100% better, by this evening.
I said....that’s the LEAST painful steroid shot, ever (I had had one before, for allergies, and you could definitely feel the jab).
She got a funny look on her face, looked down at the shot....and, quickly walked out.
By that night, i could barely breathe. I’ve never been that sick from a steroid shot. I called the next day to see if she may have accidentally given me a flu shot....of course.....she said no :- /
Luckily, I haven’t had EITHER shot, since then.
Same. Found out accidentally. I had had my wisdom teeth removed. When I got up to change the gauze, I passed out. Likely a combo of dehydration, the heat that day, and pain. I got an expensive ambulance ride and was in the hospital for 4 days. Early on in my stay, they flushed my IV with cold saline. That triggered it again. Fortunately, I was attached to a heart monitor and the nurse recorded the event. My heart stopped for 10-15 seconds. They pumped adrenaline and all sorts of stuff into me. They had an electrocardiologist review the recording and he knew what it was without doing a tilt table. Since my diagnosis, I fortunately haven’t passed out since I know how to handle it now.
I had been treated for what doctors thought was a form of epilepsy since I was little, since I would pass out for no known reason, but they never had a firm diagnosis. Turns out it was syncope all along.

Hear, hear.
GP is one of the few doing any REAL NEWS reporting, these days.
If you don’t care for their reporting, avoid the GP threads.
LOL! I remember an inductee in the military passing out when he saw they were drawing blood about five inductees ahead of him.
Think what you will for or against the vaccination. But the very idea that someone fainted from getting a shot is hardly new or unheard of. Leave it to Gasway Pungent to overdramatize the Covid vaccination.
When I was drated in 1970, there were several guys that passed out after getting blood drawn. We were told to just step over their prone bodies on the floor.
Zactly!! I fondly remember marching thru the gaunltlet of corpsmen, 3 on each side each with an inoculation gun, and a team of nurses at the end with another from a needle/syring. Big tough guys passing out left and right while the DI is counting out our 20 count pushups.
Mine was stressful but in a different way
It came in days leading up to “finals” in an advanced degree. I was wearing a heart monitor for a few days. Went in to have it checked and they made me go straight to the hospital. Wouldnt even allow me to get in my car.
I was in the hospital for I think 5 to 7 days while they tried to figure it out...including the catheter up the groin to the heart procedure.
At the end of the time when they couldnt figure it out they decided to try a tilt table.
IDIOTS..why didnt they think of it before all that time.
Luckily, because I was a student my bill was less than $1000. I think it was well over $25k. Dont remember that part of it.
At that time they didnt know much about the disorder. So perhaps stress induced the condition in me.
Who knows.
No one else in my family has it that they know of.
Not long after I went on a trip to Italy and was climbing a volcano. I made sure I was taking meds because I didnt want to have an episode and fall in...LOL
but I dont take meds now. Didnt like the side effects
What happened to the vaccine?
Well they were doing a cutesy ‘treasure chest’ filled with hypodermics/vaccine......
She took one out of the ‘chest’.......obviously didn’t tap the syringe to check for bubbles ......don’t they always do that?
After she stuck it in she stopped ( I wasn’t looking but my husband was in the room)
She immediately grabbed another syringe and gave me my shot!
I said ‘what just happened?’
She had to tell me, she had a witness.
She swore it was NOT a used syringe!
We reported it......nothing came of it, except an apology......
Thanks Jane!
Insufficient data - I hear she is pregnant which changes things a bit - plus, she knew she was going to be showcased and we have no idea if she stuck to her normal diet or maybe skipped some food and/or consumed extra caffeine.
We have so many shark-jumping, low-info, morons here that I’m wondering how much longer FR can exist as a conservative. rational forum.
