The Effect of the Lockdowns: Small Businesses Have Been Devastated

That’s the effect of the lockdowns on Big Business: thanks to their political pull and effective lobbying tactics they have done quite well and have profited off of our suffering and circumstances.

That’s not to say that those companies are to blame. Even though Amazon has had a great year because of Covid, it is not to blame for the disease or its effects. China and our government are. Amazon and the others are just doing what businesses do: trying to earn money as best they can despite government interference.

But, even if they’re not to blame, the success the biggest companies and wealthiest America are experiencing at the expense of the smallest is unjust. Thanks to the lockdowns, in just over eight months, a group of 650 Americans gained over $1 trillion in wealth, according to American Greatness.

Meanwhile, at one point during the lockdowns, thirty-three million Americans filed for unemployment. Those numbers have decreased somewhat, but the situation is still dire for millions of Americans; seventeen million Americans need food assistance. And small businesses have suffered worst of all; more than 97,966 businesses have permanently shut down during the pandemic.

Billionaires and Big Business profited off of the lockdowns. America’s middle class and small businesses suffered. That’s not because the billionaires are smarter or their businesses better run. This was not a free-market threshing of the wheat. Instead, it was caused by government action and businesses buying favors. Walmart could stay open, but a small food stand couldn’t. Target stayed open, but a small clothing shop couldn’t. Amazon could sell goods, but your local electronics store couldn’t. The effect of the lockdowns is that small businesses were destroyed by government action.

The thing is if you add up the number of employees at Walmart, And compare that to the total number of Employees in small businesses surrounding a local wall, you’re probably around a similar number.

So is it safer to congregate all those same people inside one big store or distribute them among a bunch of small businesses?

As usual the government ‘solution’ is back-asswards.

All to set the USA up for the “Great Reset”.

Destroy the middle class.

Lower property value for Chinese citizens.

Establish Foreign rule forever.

RIP USA

Here in Minnesota Gov Walz (400 mil net worth.. how does a failed military, failed teacher amass 400 mil?) has shut down gyms, bars and restaurants again.

He’s killing small businesses and many are to the point where they are just going to reopen and let the chips fall where they may. They are out of options. Go down without a sound or go down fighting.

This is the largest communist plot to remove small businesses and give their revenues to large businesses.

In California, restaurant owners sued the state over the shut-down. They asked for specific proof that COVID was being spread via restaurants using outdoor seating and social distancing protocols. The judge ruled with the restaurant industry - but the health dept. - and the odious Newsom - overruled and restaurants remain shuttered.

Are you sure that’s correct? I’m aware that restaurant owners sued LA County and won, but the state lockdown was still in effect. They promised to sue the state as well, but have not heard of any such action having gone forward. Do you have a link to back up your post?

I did see that article as well. Posted it to my FB page.

I’m a small business myself. Looking at the numbers for the entire year I am down over 55% from last year. And heading into the New Year isn’t looking any better. It actually is looking worse if that is even possible.

Small business doesn’t need another loan stimulus. Loans don’t help if there’s no business or you are shut down. Lt. Gov said last week during a covid update, go look for a job on the government website. I dunno know...how about getting the world to open back up instead!

While I won’t take the vaccine myself many of my clients will because they need to travel for work. How much of that is going to bounce back remains to be seen. It might be worth revisiting in 6 months.

I have watched several companies in my niche, bigger than mine, just fold-up shop. Gone. Didn’t even bother trying to sell off their client list. Holding on for the turnaround? I need to see an improvement in conditions by March 2021.

Government employees did well of the lockdowns too. I don’t know of any who have lost their incomes. Some may have been furloughed (with a resulting reduction in income), but none have lost their jobs to date.

So all of the people employed by bars, restaurants, service sales, tourism, ski resorts, beach towns, cafes, etc., etc... Are just supposed to look for jobs?

Where?

The skill sets they have are in the very industries that were forced to close!

I have to ping this for latter review.

Their web site needs more or better servers and/or telecom bandwidth - trying to link repeatedly stalls to a timed out condition.

L.A. restaurants win court battle over closures; judge says county didn’t prove danger to public

Chalfant limited the outdoor dining ban to three weeks and said once it expires Dec. 16 the Department of Public Health must conduct a risk-benefit analysis before trying to extend it.

Chalfant’s ruling clears the way for restaurants to return to operation when Newsom’s order expires. However, it’s not clear when that will happen since the governor’s order is in effect until “at least” Dec. 27.

The association didn’t say if it would challenge the state order in court.

https://ktla.com/news/local-news/judge-expected-to-limit-l-a-countys-outdoor-dining-ban-to-3-weeks-though-statewide-order-remains-in-effect/

You know Newsom will extend the order. We were told that the schools would "only be closed for two weeks for deep cleaning and then the students would return." It's been nine months with no end in sight.

So a lawsuit against the state is still pending. You’re right of course about the gov extending the order.

I’m dining inside another restaurant right now.

So it worked as desired. Destroyed small business, got rid of the orange menace, Devi stated the worldwide economy, AND got a drooling pedo in office who is owned by China.
