A new report suggests President-elect Joe Biden plans to hire a “high-ranking” official at the Department of Justice (DOJ) whose lone job will be to systematically undo President Trump’s immigration reforms.
Reforms that the current administration has argued improved America’s national security and public safety.
According to Politico, “Biden will be able to rescind some policies through the stroke of a pen on Day 1.”
Others, however, will take time and dedication. Something one source tells the outlet will be the job of one person specifically. A man dedicated solely to undoing everything President Trump did to strengthen and enforce our immigration laws.
“According to a person familiar with the plans, the incoming president plans to hire a high-ranking official at the Justice Department who will focus specifically on dismantling Trump’s immigration policies,” the report reads.
The arguments will focus mainly on the notion that acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf was ruled by a federal judge to have not been lawfully serving in his position since he had not attained Senate confirmation, and thus any actions he took were invalid.

Earlier this month, CNN reported that Biden is poised to unleash “a flurry” of executive orders aimed at “undoing” the Trump administration’s efforts to reform key government agencies.
Part of that agenda could tie into his pledge to take action on immigration within the first 100 days of his term.
“I’m going to make a commitment in the first 100 days, I will send an immigration bill to the United States Senate with a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America,” Biden vowed during an NBC interview.

Biden seems consistent in his messaging on immigration reforms and to provide mass amnesty to, by his own estimates though some suspect the number would be higher, 11 million illegals.
During a presidential debate just days before voters cast their ballots in the 2020 election, the Democrat nominee vowed to create a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million illegal immigrants, telling America “we owe them.”
“And all of those so-called dreamers, those DACA kids, they’re going to be immediately certified again to be able to stay in this country and put on a path to citizenship,” he said.
Biden went on to state that many Dreamers are “model citizens” and work as first responders.
“We owe them,” he concluded. “We owe them.”
He believes access to jobs, the American economy, government benefits – that is owed to those who broke our nation’s laws.
“We made a mistake. It took too long to get it right,” Biden says when asked why voters should trust him to deliver on immigration reform after the Obama administration presided over record deportations and failed to deliver on this promise. https://t.co/sfK5s5ZOTW #Debates2020 pic.twitter.com/MQEtGE0sQB

The Good News? It Won’t Be Easy
The good news is President Trump has been intelligently overhauling the system in implementing his own immigration reforms, making it difficult for Biden to succeed.
“President-elect Joe Biden has vowed to immediately reverse the Trump administration’s restrictive immigration policies,” Politico writes, but, “it could take years to deliver on the promise.”

The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) indicates Trump’s method of implementing immigration reforms was intentionally designed to make it difficult to undo as Biden would have it.
“Through bold, sweeping changes as well as less-noted technical adjustments, the Trump administration has dramatically reshaped the U.S. immigration system since entering office in January 2017,” they write.
“Much of the White House’s immigration agenda has been realized in the form of interlocking measures, with regulatory, policy, and programmatic changes driving towards shared policy goals,” MPI reports.
“Though these largely administrative actions could, in theory, be undone by a future administration, this layered approach, coupled with the rapid-fire pace of change, makes it likely that the Trump presidency will have long-lasting effects on the U.S. immigration system.”
