Send the Paris Climate Treaty to the Senate
Townhall ^ | 12/6/2020 | Paul Driessen

Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution is simple and direct: “The President ... shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur.” It served America well for 225 years.

Then, in 2015, the UN’s “international community” of climate activists gathered in Paris to hammer out language requiring that developed nations slash their fossil fuel use, tighten greenhouse gas emission targets every five years, and become “carbon neutral” within a few decades – to prevent a manmade climate chaos forecast by computer models but not supported by Earth history or real-world evidence.

Developing countries would be under no such obligations. Most incredibly, economic, military and tech powerhouse China was included among the developing countries, and thus is under no such obligations.

In short, the Paris accords would force the United States to engage in a massive, painful transformation of its entire economy – electricity generation, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture and much more – under the aegis of the United Nations and UN and foreign country activists, politicians and bureaucrats.

that “accord” is largely just symbolic, because its NOT a treaty...its being ignored by most countries anyway....

It’s a declaration of war, an integral component of the obamian marxist-muslim “death to America” agenda.
Ask the UN.....lol

OK, here’s why he says this:

“Joe Biden has made it clear that he will recommit our nation to the Paris not-a-treaty, possibly within hours of being sworn in as president, if lingering vote issues are resolved in his favor. Fortunately, President Trump can easily prevent this disaster. As Paris Treaty experts have suggested, “Mr. Trump could and should submit the treaty to the Senate for its advice and consent – and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should quickly schedule a debate and vote. Every Senator will have an opportunity to go on record: for or against a treaty that would make the United States, and every individual state and family, subjects of unelected, unaccountable UN and foreign powers.””

Send it to the trash can where it belongs. Europeans are great at writing and signing such agreements, but they’ve never hit a single goal in any of these agreements.

We are the only country that has lowered emissions, they can talk to us when they catch up with us.

Joe Biden pledged that, if elected, he would rejoin the Paris Accord from which the U.S. is formally withdrawing.

With Democrats.....its always "follow the money". Here's why Biden is hot for the Paris Accords.

a second $500m to the Green Climate Fund, without Congressional approval, just three days before leaving office.

CIRCA 2017---Barack Obama transfers $500m to Green Climate Fund to protect Paris deal last days in office;
That's Obama's second $500M withdrawn from State Dept using executive powers; bypassing congress' role completely .

Barack Obama has transferred a second $500m installment from the State Dept to the Green Climate Fund just three days before he leaves office.

The fund was a key aspect of the Paris agreement signed in 2015, which aims to keep global warming “well below” 2C and aspires to keep warming to 1.5C. Established in 2010, it is financed by wealthy countries and used to assist developing countries with adaptation and mitigation. It was widely seen as a key measure to bring both rich and poor countries to the negotiating table. The US committed to transferring $3bn to the fund.

The Obama installment leaves $2bn owing, with the incoming president, Donald Trump, expected to cease any further payments.

=====================================

Is this State Dept's $billions that made a short cut thru numbered accounts in a French Polynesian bank w/ Obama's
number on them? W/ some of the billions going to Hawaii and Martha's Vineyard realtors?

The Iran deal which Obama instituted, similarly was never approved by the Senate as a treaty.

I think a good question would be, are these sorts of agreements agreed to by presidents, really legally binding? If the Senate has not ratified treaties, why do Democrats act as if it were a crime against humanity, for Trump to have pulled us out of these agreements?

I think they would ratify it rather than file 13 it.

It’s not a treaty, it’s an “ Accord”

The Iran “Slow-Walk to a Nuc Weapon” Agreement is not a treaty

Expect to be ruled by a phone and a pen again...obama’s 3d term

Another reason why the Founders wanted the state legislatures’ representatives (the Senate) to have final word on treaties. Treaties have the same weight as the Constitution itself as far as state governments are concerned. Yet another reason why the 17th Amendment was a really bad thing.

There’s a real chance that’s exactly what they would do.
