How Democrats define themselves, AOC edition:
OMG don’t ask me to do anything else! Can’t you see I’ve got my hands full!?
Arguably she hasn’t even started her “adult life” yet but that doesn’t stop her from whining on:
"Republicans like to make fun of the fact that I used to be a waitress, but we all know if they ever had to do a double they'd be the ones found crying in the walk-in fridge halfway through their first shift bc someone yelled at them for bringing seltzer when they wanted sparkling."
I guess working a double shift tending to the drinking needs of others makes her a hero of sorts, at least in her own mind. Others seem to have taken umbrage with her asinine tweet. They cited their own hard jobs – from chimney sweep to farm hand to combat soldier – that might rival her own brave days of hiding out in the walk-in cooler after dodging flying wine corks and harsh words from unhappy customers.
“Between working my family’s hog farm, construction jobs with my dad, and the biscuit line at Hardee’s — not to mention running convoys in a combat zone — I can promise you this conservative Senator knows exactly what it’s like to work a physically demanding job.” – Joni Earnst
Ryan Saavedra may have summed it up best:
Myself, I’m just impressed with how quickly she was capable of acquiring all the requisite skills required of a Congressional Rep these days:
My she looks comfortable in that nice leather chair
complete hypocrisy, unbridled self-absorption and promotion. Oh, and of course the most important skill set of all: how to make a buck on the side from the very capitalistic system you seek to destroy.
“Using capitalism to sell anti-capitalism. God bless America!” – Jim Treacher

Bless your heart... We don’t make fun of you because you used to be a waitress. We make fun because your only job experience before running for Senate was as a waitress. You have no life experience and yet, you think you are qualified to make decisions for the rest of us. That is why you are a source of endless amusement.
Bartending is a physically difficult working-class job? Who knew carrying a drink tray was just like lugging a bundle of asphalt shingles up a ladder in 90 degree weather. Or pouring drinks was just like carrying a 60 pound sheet of drywall.
Many of us know what it’s like to work a job for nominal or variable wages only to come home at night too tired to do much else. And with no real health coverage.
AOC, are you reading this? Advocate for free markets and honest money. It is the ONLY way to get to where you say you want us to be, namely, the land of milk and honey.
Centralized power and rigged markets are kryptonite to freedom, prosperity, and fairness. Respecting the Constitution is also strongly recommended.
Feel free to pass this information on to the rest of the squad - Merry Christmas.
Wasn’t the idea of “The Divine Right of Kings” explained by the lame-excuse that The People (that’s us!) aren’t capable of governing themselves—whereas of course we know the true reason for the idea: Our Betters intend to have Better Privileges, Better Rights, and More Power—and most of all, More Luxuries!—than the rest of us peasants!
Granted she’s young and not ugly but the short skirts and sleeveless tops for a professional job indicate she thinks she’s HAAAAWT. Meanwhile our country is burning and we don’t care about her legs and boobs.
Not too long ago real Americans stormed Normandy and prevailed at the Battle of the Bulge, and later experienced war in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan, or died trying to rescue people from the Twin Towers. But AOC knows real suffering and heroics - walking down a hallway to get a bottle of water is hard work, traumatic in fact, and very unfair!
She has no awareness of the menial jobs other people have worked in their lives because normal adults don’t put them on their resumes and rarely even talk about them in public.
Agreed on roofing and construction ... DS 1 has started a construction job. It’s tough but he likes it.
As a 50-something farm wife ... crying in the walk-in fridge sounds heavenly comparing to baling hay in 90-degree heat ... or milking cows in heat and humidity so high that the flies are swarming to get OUT of the cow barn.
That said, I don’t see how anything could compare to being in combat. Hats off to veterans.
Some animals are more equal than others—this is the way the Brits do it:
I believe there are those who want it that way... on a large scale.
Congress...where people spend millions to get a job that pays thousands...
Oh wait, I forgot, I don’t read AOc threads. Thanks anyway.
A huge root of the “elite” problem is school grades.Go to your 50th high school class reunion, and meet a bunch of adults who have made their way in the world, and have done just fine and whom you would never think to patronize. At the same time know that - if you yourself did well in HS and went to college back when not everyone did - a huge fraction of them were C students who just didn’t seem too smart. And yet at your 50th reunion, people who struggled in HS turn up having done well as adults.
Best intentions notwithstanding, elitism is just the air a good student breathes in HS. If you’re inclined towards arrogance in the first place, you just have to come out an elitist.
