On any major issue, it’s obvious that the self-appointed fact-checkers are biased. If you look up election fraud in 2020, Snopes will tell you that it didn’t happen. But if you look up the Trump Campaign colluding with Russia, then Snopes will tell you that that did happen. And if you look more into that “collusion” on Snopes, it will tell you that the information Trump declassified regarding Obamagate and what happened to Michael Flynn is “unverified,” which unfairly erodes its credibility.
So, in short, stories that benefit Democrats are all “real” while stories that would benefit the Trump Campaign or align with Republican talking points are “unverified” or “untrue.” In the case of Snopes, the fact-checkers are biased and should not be trusted.
Ditto that for PolitiFact; the fact-checkers are biased at PolitiFact too. According to Mark Hemingway in an interview with NPR, “of the 98 statements that PolitiFact had rated false, 74 of them were by Republicans.” Maybe Republicans lie at a rate of 3 to 1. But, frankly, I doubt that. Based on the outright lies we have all heard from the fake news media, House Democrats, and Biden Campaign, it would appear that Democrats lie at least as frequently as Republicans, if not more so.

Screw these ridiculous propaganda sites. The slightest examination of them should be cause for contempt and ridicule. Any site or organization connected with Southern Poverty Law Center and its 20 fact checking organizations is controlled opposition to downright Pravda USA lies. The amount of freepers that defer to some of these sites has been for years a stain on this community.
Remember, back in July the fact checkers labeled as false Trumps assertion that a vaccine would be ready by the end of the year.
“Fact checker” is just a name. I rely on multiple sources, what I see around me, and trying to think clearly about it all. Freerepublic is valuable because I think the posters are honest and informed and the moderator keeps out trash.
Fact chuckers.
NOT ONE,
Please remember you CAN’T trust any media outlet on anything !!
I don’t recognize the image, but that certainly must be Capt. Obvious.
Claude Rains in “Casablanca” where he is famously “shocked” that gambling is going on in Rick’s American Cafe.
In May Trump said “Nancy Pelosi was dancing around Chinatown telling people it is safe to come out”
Now you would have to be a complete idiot to think Trump literally meant Pelosi was physically Dancing.
But the so called “fact checkers” all claim Trump was lying because while yes Pelosi was going all around Chinatown proclaiming it safe, she wasn’t actually dancing.
Of course the same people say Obama’s “You can keep you Doctor” wasn’t a lie because he really meant “You can keep you Doctor, if you and he meet our strict requirements”.
Maybe they get their guidance from Fakebook or Goolag or Screwtube management.
Truth. What is truth.
The natural disposition is always to believe. It is acquired wisdom and experience only that teach incredulity, and they very seldom teach it enough. The wisest and most cautious of us all frequently gives credit to stories which he himself is afterwards both ashamed and astonished that he could possibly think of believing. — Adam Smith, Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759)We come to FR to pool our (individually quite inadequate) “incredulity.”Skepticism is conservatism, naiveté is not. “PolitiFact is a creation of the old St.Petersburg Times”
Seems like there are a lot of liberal networks and newspapers but few liberal talk shows. Am I wrong? A few years ago our local talk station tried a liberal host. A nice guy, but he didn’t last.
“incredulity”
I first thought that word meant believing something that didn’t seem possible.
However I looked up the word and it appears to mean skepticism which means having a tendency to disbelieve.
Liberals haven’t had a new idea in 50 years... it’s why their call in radio shows don’t work.
Newspapers are more complex.
In the case of the old liberal St. Petersburg Times - they once had competition from a slightly more conservative paper called Evening Independent - an afternoon paper. Afternoon papers failed around the country when the culture changed and most were either bought out or closed shop. The Independent was bought out...like the Tampa Tribune some decades later.
Papers have a wider appeal than ‘just politics’... they provide hundreds of services, lists, life style information, sports, information on housing and the arts, ads, entertainment etc etc etc.
I’m not sure what your point was...because talk radio and newspaper are so different it’s hard to compare them.
“I’m not sure what your point was..”
Good point about the variety of information in newspapers.
My point, or perhaps my implication, was sort of what you also said - liberals haven’t had a new idea in years. Net result from an entertainment perspective: liberals talk shows are boring.
The fact checkers are a joke. How on earth did we get to a place where creeps like Zuckerberg and Dorsey call the shots and are permitted to censor the President.
