McCain-Feingold has definitely not limited political spending, it has masked it with a veneer of restraint in that a specific candidate can only receive so much money. All that means is that PACs can be created to circumvent that restriction.
This has been happening for years and years in local vs national elections. My county went from 60/40 demoncrap in 2000 to 90/10 repooblican in 2020.
In the last 6 years every local demoncrap who has run or been up for reelection has been defeated and replaced with a repooblican.
Of course, this is in Oklahoma where repooblican is the only alternative to libertarian which is what they really are here.
That is not true, they are glad handing Biden and promising to make sure he gets the appointment to his cabinet that he is entitled to. Of course Linda 3.0's position is still in doubt pending Georgia. You would think he would be taking an interest in the outcome there but nope.
Watching the hearings in Georgia now and it certainly appears that no deliberate fraud took place, at least that is what the tabulators are saying. But the senators seem very interested in defending them. How did we lose Georgia so badly? State government I mean.
“ You would think he would be taking an interest in the outcome there...”
Why? The defense contractor and open border corporate money will come in just as thickly with a 50-50 Senate...and he’ll have even less work than the usual minimum amount required to get the money.
Adams is certainly right that this is happening, but I’m not sure how much of an effect it’s really having.
Harris County (Houston), received a nearly $10 million grant from CTCL. Conveniently, this happened not long after the County Judge (its chief executive), Commissioner’s Court (its governing body), and County Clerk (its chief election officer), all flipped from Republican to Democrat in 2018.
Adams is not kidding that they are turning Democrat-run urban election offices into turnout machines. In Houston, our county clerk, Chris Hollins, has done everything he can to pump up Democrat turnout and facilitate the ballot harvesting operation run by the senior Democrat county commissioner, Rodney Ellis. That included encouraging illegal absentee voting by claiming lack of immunity to Covid is a “disability” and attempting to illegally mail absentee ballot applications to every voter in the county (partially thwarted by our AG and Supreme Court). He also set up an illegal drive-through voting program that was probably exploited by in-person fraud witnessed in at least one early-voting location, and resulted in a 2,000-vote counting discrepancy (the GOP candidate for Chief Justice of the 1st Court of Appeals lost by less than this) because the workers didn’t know how to use the equipment. We also get constant, unsolicited text messages from the county clerk’s office about election dates.
It may have made a difference: 328,706 more votes were cast in Harris County in 2020 than 2016, a 25% increase. Biden received 210,279 more than Hillary, which resulted in a net gain vis-a-vis Trump of 55,604. That may have been enough in an actual battleground state, but it was less than 10% of Trump’s statewide margin of victory in Texas.
Adams mentions Philadelphia in his article. However, Philadelphia County actually did not see much of an increase in turnout from 2016, and Trump actually saw a net gain there of over 4,000 votes. Biden made all of his big gains in PA in the counties around Philadelphia and in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh).
Honestly, I think the Democrat urban GOTV machine was already pretty maxed-out in swing states in Presidential elections. I think the action is in the suburbs and, maybe, in some red-state cities, and is probably focused on things like ballot harvesting.
Yeah but now that they got the big guy, they will be more focused on stealing the next election at the lower levels. They are patient.
What has the GOP done to help the Pres fight off these jackals for the last 4 yrs?
You’re right - They play the long game.
I recall the many enthusiastic Trump rallies attended by thousands and the quiet Biden gatherings that hardly anyone attended.
And Trump lost?
Good grief America — THINK!
