I have actually. The Navajo and the Ute. Utes aren’t as bad off. On the Navajo I saw guys lying by the road passed out along the highway to Monument Valley.

Up here in Kanadahar, some reserves do very well. So much depends on the Chief and Council. For example, the Hobema First Nation (in Alberta oil country) does VERY well financially but has a HUGE alcohol and drug addiction problems. The Blood Reserve, near Lethbridge, AB, also has substance abuse problems but little oil revenue. The reserve is in rough shape.
The Tsuu Tina reserve, butting up against the City of Calgary, is opening up to business and has the first Costco on a reserve in North America. I’ve gone there and the staff is friendly and actually care about customer service. There is also a reserve in Osoyoos, BC, bordering the US, that is doing VERY well with tourism and even a nice winery. Unfortunately, there are way too many reserves that are disasters in Canada.
