Googling it, I Could not find any reference the 305th military intelligence battalion has the nickname Kraken before the good General mentioned it.

I actually laughed out loud when McInerny said “the Kraken organization, the 305 Military Intelligence Battalion.” Powell makes an offhand movie reference at a presser that happens to catch on, so now it’s the nickname of the 305th MI Battalion, which is apparently the source for Powell and McInerny. The 305th is part of the 111th MI Brigade, a training unit at Fort Huachuca. It trains recruits for MI MOSes after they graduate Basic. It is not an operational unit.

I think Powell and McInerny are laughing at all the people who believe them.
