VIDEO

Here are several scenes of the rising Broward County lake level caused by the heavy rain of Tropical Storm Eta on November 8, 2020. Using several reference points that I have zoomed in on in this video at various times of the day you can see the steady progression of the water level rise.

Yeah, I’m not even bothering to try to drive until at least Tuesday. Tomorrow the flooding will be even WORSE because right now the rain is coming down harder than it was during the daylight hours.

Tomorrow afternoon the rains are supposed to ease up so I might hoof (no driving) to a nearby WaWa for snacks. They have INCREDIBLE sandwiches!

My folks used to live at “Seven Lakes”. After enough rain it was “one lake”.

Up here in Fernandina, it’s making the bow of our Boat rise and lower quite a bit. But, we have ridden out worse.

A worst case scenario for the Tampa Bay region is a storm that stalls out north of us... just sits there with rotation pushing water into Tampa Bay for hours...

I feel for you. I used to live in Florida and Tropical Storm Fay dumped on us for days. I think we had 20-24 inches of rain. My house looked about like the one in the photo, barely escaping the flood. Others were not so lucky.

Good luck to all!!!

I use to live in a canal house on Davis Island near downtown Tampa.
When ever a storm came our way the water would come up over the sea wall and scare hell out of us all.

Little and no rain this morning in Broward County. Waiting to see what happens this afternoon. We did get a flash flood alert early today with a warning to NOT drive on the roads. Hopefully, with not much more rain coming, maybe, we can go on the roads tomorrow.

I hope you are safe. I saw flood warnings (?) for Broward on the Eta thread and thought of your location. Stay safe and, as reasonably feasible, keep us posted.
