In the Southern Hemisphere, where the flu season happens during our summer months, the WHO data suggests it never took off at all. In Australia, just 14 positive flu cases were recorded in April, compared with 367 during the same month in 2019 – a 96 per cent drop. By June, usually the peak of its flu season, there were none. In fact, Australia has not reported a positive case to the WHO since July. In Chile, just 12 cases of flu were detected between April and October. There were nearly 7,000 during the same period in 2019.

Because of all the mitigation. If there were no mitigation then the flu would be at 100%. Makes you wonder what covid would be at with no mitigation.
And no, they aren’t counting flu cases as covid cases. They are able to tell the difference - unlike with the Spanish Flu, where 80% of those likely were really just the regular flu, based on year over year numbers (for most of the pandemic, excluding the big spike in October of 1919).
But, hey, let’s say that there is no reduction in the transmission of the common flu, and even though it’s still just the beginning of the flu season, let’s say that all of your average annual flu deaths have already occurred. So what about the other 190,000 deaths? And what about the average 1,000 or so deaths per day? You would think they’d run out of crisis actors by now instead of having hospitals in many parts of the country at or over capacity with covid cases, right?
Facts. Science. Math. Logic. Occam’s Razor. This is a real thing and instead of denying it you should be fighting it. Unlike AGW, there is actual evidence that something is happening - people are dying. You all might just have to avoid those baseball and football games you were claiming to not go to anymore. I know 3 people, all totally separate from each other, who suffered flu like symptoms. All 3 tested negative for Covid and regular flu. That confuses me it doesn’t make sense.

Every day I am more convinced it all depends on what result ‘one’ is looking for.
I really ‘lost’ it when the ‘health care arm’ of the Military Retirees admitted early on that they had made a ‘mistake’ of 650,000 tests.
Granted the testing was probably ‘fast and furious’ but a 650 thousand reversal ISN’T a mistake, it is bordering on criminal.
Heads should have rolled over that.
I have NEVER taken a flu shot and by the original ‘blueprint’, I am DEAD as I didn’t hunker down and go into hiding as the original stats said should be done.
Oh, I am 81, went & Go about my daily business (still somewhat working) and had joked about getting a fake idea saying I was 63 as one of the original proposals/suggestions/run it up the flagpole- was to arrest ‘elders’ for being out.
Of course ANYONE observing this current crop of Ds that have been hogging the headlines all summer - including HRC and Pelosi - the WORLD must think any American over 70 is a bumbling idiot if this is the the best that the US has to offer as a ‘world leader’.
There’s no way as our doctor’s are competent enough to know the difference between the common flu and COVID; right?

They only know the difference if they test for it, and even then it’s sometimes deceptive. I know someone whose 90 yr old father got COVID, survived, and then about three months later died of a severe respiratory illness, probably the flu. But since he had the COVID antibodies and thus was positive for COVID at the time of his death, guess what his death from the flu will be attributed to? Not the flu.
Also, some places weren’t testing but accepting the death as COVID based upon the symptoms,,,,which are essentially the same as those of flu.
The sneaky virii get in through the eyes. Or through the mouth when masks are adjusted or when people are eating. Or they are airborne and go right through the porous masks.
Exactly! When this whole thing started in March I asked some friends in the bio-tech industry what exactly this thing was. They told me essentially it’s a kind of flu. Basically a strain that’s not commonly seen in humans. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s out competing regular seasonal flu for victims.
God help us if it replaces seasonal flu.

What’s interesting is all the symptoms of the flu are the same as covid I believe.
You do realize that what you describe - in conjunction with mask use - is both unnatural and sets the stage for an epidemic which will rival the 1918 flu by an order of magnitude (especially in developed countries)?

Except they're caused by completely different viruses - coronavirus vs. influenza - which are never going to be confused in a test.
