During my 20 years in the Army I voted via absentee ballot, thus had always sent it in more than 2 weeks before the election. Otherwise, I’ve voted on election day until last week, when I voted in the early voting for the first time. I expect to return to my normal election day pattern by the next election. And I’ve always been against early voting that the Dems have pushed in their states. And I’m also against “motor voter” registrations.

Too late. I absolutely oppose this early voting nonsense.

From that story: "Trump reacted by disputing Biden’s claim and declaring Biden will “destroy the oil industry.” Biden shot back that Trump “takes everything out of context,” and the country has to make an energy shift in the coming decades."

I kind of which Trump had countered with something like this: "Every time I quote Joe, he says I took him out of context. The only context I'm thinking about is the context of what's good for America and the American people. I don't know what context Joe thinks will make his ideas sound sensible."

***“I would transition from the oil industry,” Biden answered, which Trump pronounced a “big statement” as Welker asked “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?”...

Yeah, even Welker realized Biden had just made a screw up of epic proportions that could very well cost him the election. She opened the door wide and tried to give him an out to save himself by saying he misspoke, but Biden instead doubled down.

There was a story one of the Fox News anchors tweeted about how at the moment that exchange occurred, one of the NBC staffers in the shared press room facepalmed and turned toward one of the other staffers and said, "Well it's going to be a long four years during Trump's second term."

At his upcoming rallies Pres Trump should remind early voters that they can change their votes. The procedure varies from state to state, but surely there will be some Bidet remorse

The Democrats pushed early voting hard and mail in voting because they knew this was going to happen.

I've been saying that for weeks and some people here responded that, people who vote would not change their minds, since they had their minds made up way before it was time to vote.

Anyhow, there is no doubt that democrats know that polling gets close to even in the waning days before the actual election day, so, it was better to get people to commit before they had a chance to change their minds.

There is no good reason for early voting. Perhaps only for absentee voting. Anybody that can't vote on election day is somebody that should not be voting. It was good enough for most of the time the U.S. has existed, and it worked fine all that time.

There was no way I could get off work in time to vote with my current job, so I voted early for the first time in my life.

It took 2 hours; the line was around three sides of the building

The last time I voted it took 15 minutes.

Maybe, but this story was posted here on FR at 8:24 PM Eastern, which would have been 7:24 Central. I don't think the debate had started at that point:

Overheard in debate room from a well-known correspondent from a leading anti-Trump network

That story contained this quote: "It’s going to be a long 2nd term."

In fairness, a lot of liberals were probably thinking this last night.

My guess is that most early votes are very hard supporter votes. Doubt Trump lost any in that group.

As you say, some states have a backup system. That is, they’re organized enough to be able to pull up the voter’s ID and find the record and change the vote.

One thing I have found interesting n these discussions is the wildly varying regulations, conditions, etc. from state to state or even county to county.

I live in Florida and I voted early and because I voted for Trump, I have no reason to change it!

I’m afraid they might use Covid or something else to shut down voting on Election Day.

Yup, or worse. They simply don't think they should lose. Ever.

If they could, they would touch off a nuclear attack from North Korea to screw up election day. Blame it on Trump of course.

I like to early vote because my job can take me out of town on Election Day.
I never vote for ANY DemoRat so might as well be a carved in stone ballot.
