Poverty is not an absence of property. Poverty is an absence of hope and opportunity and the inability to foresee a better future.
Sounds like liberal thinking, redefine terms to mean something else. I was raised Catholic and understood when priest would take a vow of poverty.
So to me poverty is not having the basic necessities to support Maslow’s physiological needs.
I firmly believe America is the land of opportunity, if people choose not to partake it is on them, or also on the ones that work to keep them dependent.
