Building Back Better (BBB) is a program that was first officially used in the United Nations’ Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction document, which was agreed on at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held on March 14–18, 2015, in Sendai, Japan. 5 June: OECD Policy Responses to Coronavirus (COVID-19): BUILDING BACK BETTER: A sustainable, resilient recovery after COVID-19
Abstract
For the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis to be durable and resilient, a return to ‘business as usual’ and environmentally destructive investment patterns and activities must be avoided. Unchecked, global environmental emergencies such as climate change and biodiversity loss could cause social and economic damages far larger than those caused by COVID-19. To avoid this, economic recovery packages should be designed to “BUILD BACK BETTER”...

“BUILDING BACK BETTER”: key dimensions for a resilient economic recovery
7. The term “BUILDING BACK BETTER” has been increasingly and widely used in the context of the economic recovery from COVID-19 (WRI, 2020[10]) (We Mean Business Coalition, 2020[11]). The notion originated in the context of recovery and reconstruction from physical disasters...

21 Jul: CFact: Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ plan hits reset button on Socialism
By Larry Bell
Al Gore, John Kerry, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., along with influential socialist United Nations cohorts, are leveraging COVID-19 chaos to advance a transformational “Great Reset” of capitalism.
Climbing aboard the movement, Joe Biden’s campaign recently rolled out a new “Build Back Better” sloganeering bromide that may have already sounded familiar.

Approximately three months earlier, on April 22, the U.N. announced, “As the world begins planning for a post-pandemic recovery, the United Nations is calling on Governments to seize the opportunity to “build back better” by creating more sustainable, resilient and inclusive societies.”
U.N. Climate Change Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa further explained, “With this restart, a window of hope and opportunity opens… an opportunity for nations to green their recovery packages and shape the 21st century economy in ways that are clean, green, healthy, safe and more resilient.”

In June, a meeting hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF) attended by some of the planet’s most powerful government officials and business leaders called upon using climate change alarmism and coronavirus pandemic disruption to implement an expansively radical plan to establish increasingly socialist policies including global wealth taxes, aggressive social justice regulations, and massive Green New Deal-like climate-premised anti-fossil fuel government programs.

Participants at WEF’s virtual internet event included Prince Charles, one of the plan’s primary proponents; Gina Gopinath, chief economist at the International Monetary Fund; U.N. Secretary General António Guterres; CEOs and presidents of major international corporations, such as Microsoft, Mastercard and BP; and representatives from Greenpeace International and other activist groups.
As articulated by WEF’s Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, “Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. . . In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”...

Referring to the coronavirus pandemic, Prince Charles told WEF meeting attendees, “We have a golden opportunity to seize something good from this crisis — its unprecedented shockwaves may well make people more receptive to big visions of change.”...

WEF plans to follow up the June meeting with another in 2021 that will promote and coordinate their agenda with a large youth activist organization called the “Global Shapers Community” (GSC) with chapters in 400 cities around the world.

GSC, in turn, has close ties to Al Gore’s “Climate Reality Project,” which has already trained more than 1,300 global shapers in climate activism. Gore, who also serves on WEF’s Board of Trustees, has a vast network of climate activists of his own — the “Climate Reality Leadership Corps.”

His organization launched highly publicized world-wide “climate strikes” last year.
Although Gore didn’t attend the June WEF meeting, he strongly endorsed the Great Reset during a June 19 interview with NBC’s “Today.”
John Kerry, who did attend the meeting, has joined WEF in leveraging the coronavirus crisis as an opportunity to advance Green New Deal policies.
“This is a big moment,” Kerry said. “The World Economic Forum . . . is really going to have to play a front and center role in refining the Great Reset to deal with climate change and inequity — all of which is being laid bare as a consequence of COVID-19.”...

Please be very aware that “build back better” is much more than simply another empty, mindless campaign slogan. Remember where it came from, what it really means, who is promoting it, and where it will take America.
It’s not to a place that we should ever wish to go.

This publication describes UNEP’s engagement in the post-disaster recovery effort following the earthquake in the Sichuan Province, China on 12 May 2008. It outlines the key achievements of UNEP’s engagement in the country from 2008 to 2010, which focused primarily on providing high-level expertise and capacity development for the management of the environmental impacts of the disaster, but also presents some new approaches to reconstruction and sustainable building, as well as a learning process for BUILD BACK BETTER.

Harrabin is currently BBC’s #1 manmade gloBULL warming gate-keeper:

6 May: BBC: Climate change: Could the coronavirus crisis spur a green recovery?
By Roger Harrabin, BBC environment analyst
The Covid-19 lockdown has cut climate change emissions - for now. But some governments want to go further by harnessing their economic recovery plans to boost low-carbon industries. Their slogan is “BUILD BACK BETTER”, but can they succeed?...

Before the Covid-19 crisis, we accepted the dominance of traffic noise as an inevitable consequence of city living.
Now, we have sampled an alternative urban ambience...

But many members of the public have little desire to return to the state of affairs before lockdown.
Most people think climate change is as serious as coronavirus
IPSOS MORI POLL...

Another likely winner from the crisis is the movement fighting to turn city streets over to pedestrians and cyclists...

The UK is one of several nations looking to reboot its environmental strategy by calling in favours from private industry. After all, it was government which bailed out employers when the crunch came in March. The catchphrase is “BUILD BACK BETTER”...

The Democratic Party has a long-standing proposal for a “Green New Deal” to promote clean technology. But President Donald Trump has minimised the importance of climate change. He has promised to help struggling fossil fuel firms, although his efforts have not taken root in a major way...

Then there’s China. In 2015, its leaders were persuaded by President Barack Obama to make major climate change commitments as part of the Paris climate agreement.
Since then, China has suffered job losses and fuel shortages. Beijing has resorted to a quick fix for the economy by building coal-fired power plants.
The green think tank Global Energy Monitor says the number of plants China approved in the first three weeks of March 2020 - equivalent to 7,960 megawatts (MW) - was more than the number agreed in the whole of 2019 (6,310 MW).

That doesn’t take into account China’s estimated $1 trillion investment in its “Belt and Road” initiative to build huge, carbon-intensive infrastructure projects across developing countries...

Unless China and President Trump change their spots (or the Democratic candidate wins the US election), Europe’s BUILD BACK BETTER campaign won’t be enough to protect the increasingly fragile climate, even if it does engineer a green recovery...
