DELUSIONAL DEM GOV: Boeing 'must' return to Washington when 'market...comes back'
DeepClips ^

In a surprise move, Boeing announced Thursday it will move all 787 Dreamliner production from Washington to South Carolina, a state known for its business-friendly environment. Washington Governor Jay Inslee immediately slammed the company for “turning its back” on the state and threatened a review of Washington's “favorable” tax treatment of Boeing.

Gee, do you think threatening government hostility is going to dissuade them from moving to escape…wait for it…government hostility?

Maybe Gov. Inslee should have focused more on creating a business-friendly environment in Washington, instead of acting like businesses don't have the right to choose where they locate.

Boeing is rumored to be being broken up. Boeing is three divisions; commercial aircraft (BCA), global services (BGS), and defense, space & security (BDS).

BCA is shutting down. It’s losing money, and the forecast is that it will for more than 20 years. There is no money to sustain it the way it is. It will be broken up and sold into profitable units.

BGS was making money, now it isn’t. It will be broken up also. Some product lines retained by BDS, some sold off with BCA.

BDS is making money, but it crosses into markets shared by others. It could easily be broken up and sold to cover the
losses of BCS and BGS.

Boeing will cease to exist.

Sorry, miswrote, still on first cup of coffee. What do you mean by subsidies and are they state, federal or both?

Thanks.

Yeah right, like working with Obama’s FAA to build airplanes which fall out of the sky didn’t cause this.

After GM closed their Lordstown plant, Ohio clawed back millions in tax incentives granted to keep the place open. Washington state may be able to do something similar to Boeing. But it won’t change their mind so it will just be a spiteful punishment.

Let’s not forget that the US government under Obama’s regime began turning the screws on Boeing just for opening another assembly line in a different state.

President Trump’s administration is not exactly tied at the hip to the union bosses, so Boeing can actually make decisions that are better for the company, rather than being nothing more than payments to the union bosses.

I’m talking Federal.

Let’s start by looking at the bailout of the airline industry. This isn’t being done to save an industry that is already shedding tens of thousands of jobs and may take decades to recover from this COVID fiasco. The purpose of this bailout is to ensure that these airline companies can fulfill their terms on purchase orders for new Boeing aircraft that they no longer need.

Perhaps the most disgraceful example of a “subsidy” for Boeing comes in the form of the U.S. military. It’s no coincidence that the government-owned airlines in all these Middle East sh!t-holes where the U.S. either protects radical Islamic royal families or topples secular dictators invariably end up buying dozens of new Boeing aircraft to replace their aging Airbus fleets.

It’s also no coincidence that the loudest “neo-con” globalists clamoring for U.S. military intervention in these Islamic dumps include prominent South Carolina political figures like Lindsey Graham and Nikki Haley who have been owned by Boeing for years.

True but Boeing practically invented the commercial airplane business when he founded the Aero Products Company in Seattle in 1916.

The roots were here but dhimmicrats strangled them to death.

Yet do not think for a moment that Boeing is not angling for a better deal out of either the States of Washington or South Carolina.

I don't think so, I think the decision reflects:

---The economic benefit of consolidating 787 assembly. Since a lot of the components are sourced out of SC then flown to Everett, Everett is a higher cost facility.

---This is a continuation of a trend predicted by Boeing since the 1990s, moving out of the Puget Sound area because of the business climate. Moving the HQ to Chicago was a first step.

---Washington State has a lot of business challenges such as tax structure and transportation issues. There's no indication this will improve anytime soon.

---Boeing has an increasingly tense relationship with both the Machinists and SPEEA. SC is a non union state and the Boeing facility there is non union.

It was a question of when, not if. In the future, look for Washington production to be consolidated in Everett and Renton closed. Any 757 replacement would be placed in Everett, if locally.

Figure that with every new program (MMA/737 replacement) assembly outside Puget Sound area is a viable option.

Slight correction. Manned heavier than air flight was born and developed in Dayton Ohio. It was first tested in North Carolina. Subsequent testing took place in Ohio.
