My Letter to Kroger

Posted on 09/24/2020 10:44:51 AM PDT by Jeff Chandler

After all these years I am seriously considering switching stores.

I've been shopping at Fry's for more than 15 years, and my experience has always been positive. Recently, however, I noticed a cashier wearing gay rights buttons. I looked into it and discovered that it is the policy of Kroger to encourage this practice.

I shop at Fry's for the prices, the selection, the quality and the service. I do not shop there to be enlightened about my political views.

There is a Walmart Marketplace location that is actually closer to me than Fry's. Their prices are lower than Fry's, they never push their political views on me, and they even have a drive through pharmacy.

Please tell me why I should continue to endure your condescending virtue signaling, when I can shop politics-free and save money while I'm doing it?

Regards, **********

Good for you, pushing back.

You didn’t threaten to burn them down.

I take it Fry’s and Kroger are related?

I like the store, I like the people there, I like the quality of the products. The Walmart shopping experience stinks. I don’t want to switch.

But I will.

Kroger is the corporation that owns Fry’s.

Was it Kroger, or Fry’s? And isn’t Fry’s an electronics chain?

Just so it.

Of course the downside is you have to go to Walmart.

Ah, got it. (confusing)

If they promote it at the corporate level, there’s no way you win this fight. What you’ll find it that it’s impossible to find a group that doesn’t allow, if not promote, virtue signaling.

There is a Bashas a few miles from here, and their meat department is superior, but they’re expensive, similar to Safeway.

I applaud your activism. We all should be pushing back. But I just don’t think “seriously considering“ will gather much attention from them.

Just my two cents.

Kroger’s has dry ice, Hellmart does not.
But Hellmart is 5 miles away and Kroger’s is 25 miles away.

To make Hellmart work for me I get in there no later than 9am.

“But I just don’t think “seriously considering“ will gather much attention from them.”

Like pushing back with a feather.

I would like to know their answer. I have shopped there too for the same reasons. There is a Safeway closer and a Bashas about as far.

There’s a Kroger about a half mile from here and I go there several times a week. They always have great sales on a few things, and so far I’ve not been subjected to any political proselytizing. I have other problems with the store, and I go to Meijer almost as often.

I like nowadays how you can search for groceries and find out what they’re charging. Unfortunately, Walmart won’t tell you their prices on a lot of items, not are they shown in their weekly ads. In their weekly flyers they do the same thing. They show products, but don’t show the prices. But I notice on a lot of items they have the best prices, especially their Great Value line. I seldom go there, mostly because the supercenter is so far away.

So, bottom line: in Lansing, Michigan Meijer is the best grocery store to frequent.

I applaud you in making your views known to Kroger. I doubt it will have much impact, but if enough people were to take the initiative as you have, they likely would change.

Keep up the good work.

I like Bashas for their produce. Safeway near me is generally cheaper than Frys. I like Frys for their variation of grocery products. I shop all three and also go to AJ’s for meat. I will be on the lookout for political messaging. It doesn’t belong in any store that wants ALL customers to be comfortable.

Its just a button. It is not an attack on you. It is saying they happen to love (or are attracted to) someone of the same sex. Biology, environment, bad decisions, it doesn’t matter.

I would say let the worker make a small statement and allow them peace in their differences.

Golden rule, big tent, etc.

It is great you wrote this, but it would be better if you were a bit less apologetic next time--something like this:

After all these years I plan to switch stores and I want to tell you why I have made this decision.

I do not shop there to be subjected to propaganda by those who views I find offensive.

There is a Walmart Marketplace location that is actually closer to me than Fry's. Their prices are lower than Fry's, they never push their political views on me, and they even have a drive through pharmacy.

I will not endure your condescending and clumsy attempt at virtue signaling, when I can shop politics-free and save money while I'm doing it. You can be sure there are many others like me who are a "silent majority" and are very angry about this.
