One of MSNBC's most famous hosts is making predictions using a U.S. coronavirus death rate around 3%, an estimate that is as much as 10 times higher than most experts say.
Rachel Maddow on her eponymous MSNBC show on Thursday argued that pursuing a herd immunity strategy for COVID-19 in the United States would result in millions upon millions of deaths throughout the country.
To arrive at those numbers, Maddow took the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the U.S. (what she claimed was just over 6.6 million) and compared it to the number of recorded deaths from the virus (around 200,000), concluding that the death rate from the disease was 2.9% and that pursuing a herd immunity strategy countrywide would thus result in multiple millions of American deaths before the virus would burn out...

If the numbers for the flu were manipulated the way coronavirus numbers have been (the worst offender is Worldometer)... statistically speaking all of us would already be dead. This is the biggest travesty in the history of our nation. And no, I don't feel like debating this with another mentally challenged drone either. My wife is a retired nurse and department head and I spent 25 years doing CPR and transporting people with contageous reperatory ailments to the hospital. We even volunteered and were paid for work we did at the Life Care Center in Lynnwood WA... not that you have any idea what that means.

The erroneous perceptions are the fake news. NOT the reporting that people are WRONG about how severe it is.

Thank you very much for your professional observation. And that is quite amazing considering that the most commonly used test is “amplified” so many times that it picks up traces of viral dna so small that they are meaningless. In Washington a “new case” means any positive test result whether it is the same person's first test or their tenth, which greatly exaggerates the number of “new cases”. Most people who do test positive can't tell if they are sick or not, so they get tested multiple times until they start getting negative results.
The fvcking curve went FLAT months ago. There is not a whole lot of push back to this insanity that we have right now. I went down the shore to try to have a good time and it is just a sad state of affairs for business. We wanted to eat at a fine seafood place but everything was placed in the parking lot under tent with plastic cups,utensils and paper plates. We passed. ‘Rona is a complete fraud and lie that is killing America.
