Even if masks work, the flimsy, non-medical black mask the reporter was wearing could not possibly be effective. But how come the mask (and the reporter’s clothes) changed colors at the end of the clip?

That statement is not true, as we can see. The reporter who removes her mask is wearing different clothes and a different mask.
Either that's a different reporter, or it's the same reporter at a different briefing.
