“others were publicly urging their candidate to pull out of the debates, ostensibly because of Trump’s alleged incorrigible dishonesty.”

I myself would be delighted to debate an opponent that was “incorrigible dishonesty.” I would destroy him by pointing out his dishonesty.

Biden will not debate.

I watched Biden debate Bernie earlier on in the year. As much as I loathe the positions, Biden did okay in that debate. He also did okay in the debate with Bloomberg and company, though I found him yelling a lot.

All in all, people are making a mistake thinking Biden will not debate or be horrible in the debate. And don’t forget the media and moderators will help Biden out.

I firmly believe Trump needs to be fully prepared and ready. As long as Trump is properly prepared he will have a winning message that many can support.

Or perhaps invite the Green Party nominee for a debate.

You mean “Dr. Jill Biden.”

Every time I hear a normal newscast on the radio that is what they refer to her as - those “ABC News updates” that occur at the top and bottom of the hour on talk radio networks.

Whatever technical cheating the Dems will try - leaked questions, teleprompters, earpieces, intrusive "fact checkers", partisan moderators, kill switches, all of that - whatever they try it will depend on how Joe is doing in rehearsal, a process that is nearly certainly ongoing as we speak. Judging from his performance in his few public appearances that probably isn't very encouraging. And so the Dems are left with a choice of which is less damaging: one or more public gaffes during the procedure or no appearance at all. This devolves into another question: what can they do to avoid or minimize the inevitable gaffes?

Their best and perhaps only chance is to see that the debates aren't quite live, whether through the magic of virtualization or some contrived technical glitch, because Trump's team isn't going to buy into a taped and edited debate. That also is going to have to be rehearsed, and given the pathetic results of the Dem "convention" that one is unlikely to be successful. Do they realize how bad that was? I get the sense they do not. And so the easiest thing to do may well be to throw Joe to the wolf and clean up the mess later. If they do opt for finding a pretext to avoid the debates altogether we'll be seeing a media workup sometime in the next couple of weeks. Just my $0.02.

“Joe is exposed, mandatory quarantine.”

You’d think if that was the strategy they’d have him mingling with a lot of people.

The article mentioned “[anti-Trump bombshells] like those in the Atlantic and in Bob Woodward’s latest book”

Also NBC’s Lessie Holt’s interview of Michael Cohen, and next week Lessie will will interview Alexander Vindman, who spoke against Trump in the Trump-Ukraine.

“All questions will be submitted two weeks prior to the “debate””

I think it’s all topics, not all questions.

I guarantee that fox, and chris wallace, have already provided questions to the biden team.
There is no need for this with the other networks. For the biden camp are providing questions to the networks.

These will not be debates as we know them but a live campaign ad by both candidates. America is so pathetic. My pessimism is mostly towards the DNC who are scum of the earth but the GOP does anything the DNC wants.

James Woods predicted yesterday that Joe Biden is going to "come down" with the Covid

That would be great...all the mask wearing and social distancing didn't help one bit.

Leftwing “moderator” sitting there attacking the Rep and speaking for the Dem.

Chris Wallace has been called to do his duty for the first round.

Do the people who keep predicting Biden won’t [fill in the blank] never learn? They are 0-fer on Biden predictions. He ran. He won the nomination. He hasn’t dropped out of the race. He’s gonna do the debates.

That’s why I predict his team will soon announce his withdrawal from all three scheduled debates with President Trump.””

They’ll do it as easily as saying “Trump is such a lying liar who lies, there’s no point or profit in engaging him.”
