I read Hathcock's book years ago.
I can not recall how he sighted in that M2 he had a armour put a scope on.

The book didn’t mention how he did it.

The only thing that confuses me is on Russian scopes everything is in Cyrillic, but the top adjustment is up and down and the one on the side is for right and left.

A good method.....so why bother?
In his last days, Carlos Hathcock regretted he never had you for a shooting coach........
To: SkyDancer
looking down the barrel and matching the sight reticule to that is “boresighting” simplicity it self, but mot always possible on some rifles

I read the book too, and I don’t recall any discussion as to how Carlos sighted in the Ma Deuce — only a picture with his Unertl Scope mounted to it.

I read Carlos’ book also.
This was a couple decades ago. I think it was called White Feather. My biggest takeaway was his planning. Not just where, when and how to take the shot, but what to do following the shot. Carlos spent days planning multiple escape routes to multiple hideouts. Every hideout had several days of supplies. As I remember, he would spend 2-3 weeks prepping for the shot. And sometimes it would as many or more weeks before he returned bez he would gather all the supplies/refuse then return each shooting location and hideout to its original condition to prevent tracker from detailing his routine.
So this article of his methods to sight in a gun appears as meticulous as his sniper actions.

I have no truck with you just observing internet behavior which I think I confessed I do as much as the next guy
I agree ...gun rights are to resist tyranny more than deer hunting
Wholeheartedly
We can see that plain enough in our failed state cities

The top photo in the linked story IS NOT Hathcock. And few outside of American Shooting Urinal are stupid enough to make that mistake.

No Firefox issues here, not that it means squat.

Yeah, one of those little lasers in a cartridge with a 50-100 yard scope zero will get you on paper, not chasing dirt splashes. Just gets you close, but works for anything you can load the cartridge into.
Tried those laser boresights with different spuds for calibers, but they were too erratic.

if you got a good bolt action, just remove the bolt and use the old mark on eye ball to bore sight, then move to the scope to fine tune.

Keep reading, everyone is not a deer hunter with a bolt action, nor does all eyesight work well that way.
I cannot focus downrange past the barrel image. Certainly not nearly as close as I can align the laser dot with the crosshairs.
