On February 22, 1943, Sophie Magdalena Scholl, former student of philosophy and biology at the University of Munich in Germany, was executed by guillotine for her role in the White Rose nonviolent Nazi resistance group. Scholl was born just 21 years earlier and spent a carefree childhood in Ludwigsburg and later, in Ulm. Although she initially joined Bund Deutscher Mädel at age 12 (as required), she quickly grew disenchanted with the group and began to identify strongly with the dissenting political views of some of her teachers, family, and friends....

That’s a good point of comparison. I had never really thought about it before. And being Austrian is not as different from being German compared to Kenyan, Indonesian, etc. versus American.
Although, the right person from another country who hates totalitarianism because they experienced it growing up in their country would probably make a good leader.
Probably used the one pictured in this article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2538973/How-Nazis-slaughtered-16-000-people-guillotine-Found-Munich-cellar-death-machine-reveals-forgotten-horror.html
What’s great about that interrogation scene is it sets up the perfect philosophical question of Freedom vs Order.
Interesting that to the Nazis, “Freedom” meant Freedom from Occupation. To Sophie and the White Rose, “Freedom” was as in the words of Pope John Paul II, “The freedom for one to do what they ought.”
Thanks for posting!
Sophie was a brave voice who paid with her life for standing up to the Nazis. Need to think about how we respond if the Hiden/Harrass coup happens.

With piano wire they did not hang if dropped, only if slowly hoisted.

There is a growing group of young people in the Blexit and #Walkaway movements who are starting to speak out courageously. Also some with PragerU. It isn’t a huge group yet and I don’t know if theres any of college age, but there are some in their lower 30s. I guess that seems young to me now but maybe not what you meant. It is a small group yet, but hopefully their courage is inspiring others.
Thanks for the article link. How gruesome. I had no idea about that bit of history.
It makes the notion of antifa setting up mock guillotines even more troublesome.
30s is young enough.
Wasnt the White Rose a communist-ideology group? I seem to remember reading that they were; seems Wiki on them has been scrubbed - very grey on what the groups philosophy was.
