I just came across a coupon for soylent green.
Eat the fruitcake and be thankful!

” Some people seem to think that if they have stored up a couple months worth of food that they will be just fine. “
And they’re right.
Don’t spend money on the silly “prep” rip-offs that push articles like this!
When TEOTWAWKI is coming you’ll know!
But having weeks of food in pantry or wherever will save 20% or more of your food budget! Buy it when it’s on sale!
there is no food shortage, there is a problem with the balance between commercial and consumer being upset because of so few restaurants being forcibly closed and more people eating home as a result. So they don’t have as many people who need a 50 gallon barrel of cooking oil
Buy gold.
I better fire up the still.
I’m out in the country. 20 acres of well watered land. I got lots of non-hybrid, heirloom seed (dent corn, winter wheat), pecan trees and way too many deer on my land.
I need to get some chickens.
Also, I hate doing hand tilling and cultivating, but gasoline for the tractor and tiller don’t last more than a year. Maybe I need a mule.
A line of cars 1/4 mile long by itself doesn’t mean as much right now. I have been in lines almost that long, not for food bank food, but for an anti-food waste program that gives you 70 lb. of fruits and vegetables for $12. The catch is, they pick the vegetables. Squash is a favorite, but grapes, tomatoes, mangoes, peppers are also in the mix.
Anyway, everybody from hard lefty enviros, to people trying to stretch a dollar, to people who see a good value from every economic strata participate in this non-need base program, and it is not based on a lack of food, but an overabundance. If this food weren’t sold like this, it would just be plowed back into the ground.
Anyway, the food distribution system has gone from box your own to drive through only to eliminate human contact, creating long lines during the food distribution period. It means no more than the long line in the Chick-Fil-A drive through in Georgia.
Is a food/financial crisis coming? Maybe. September scares me, because the same people who are willing to create worldwide hysteria over CCP virus are willing to create an economic or food panic. Long lines created due to new queuing systems is not by itself evidence of it, though.
(From the article) : " ..this (right now) is about as low as food prices are going to get.
The Fed seems absolutely determined to crank up inflation, and that is going to have very serious implications during the times that are ahead.
Right now we have a window of opportunity before the next wave of trouble comes along,
and I would greatly encourage you to use this window of opportunity to buy lots of food and store it some place safe.
Some people seem to think that if they have stored up a couple months worth of food that they will be just fine.
Unfortunately, that is not the reality of what we are facing.
The truth is that you should have enough food to feed every single person in your household {and pets}for an extended period of time, and many of you will need much more than that.
Because when things get really crazy, many of the friends, neighbors and extended family members that neglected to prepare will come knocking on your door asking for help.
My Comments : I am not an alarmist but I have concerns about food production, supply chain breakdown, transportation and fuel, and shopping locally to support local growers.
I believe that the protests and rioting are harbingers of future social disruption, and are "training sessions" for future riots in the streets.
I have a certain amount of "normalcy bias" that lingers in my spirit, and I hope that the riots are a passing political fad, but if not, I want to see my fellow FReepers prepared.
I do not support the Davos globalists, the United Nations, WHO, or many of the other governmental agencies who have divided us according to race, religion, or class structure.

I have tried to provide insight into the world economy and how it impacts our country and economy, political divisions, and the advance of world wide socialism.
In much the same light, I have tried to provide insight in terms of what I perceive as coming down the pipe so that those who are interested
can be informed and can prepare themselves, their families, and their communities.
We have experienced several disruptions of nature affecting our food supply, as have other nations with locusts, flooding, derecho wind storms, and crop failures.
Several Asian countries cannot meet their own food supply needs of their own country, and have to import food from the U.S., and elsewhere. Just several months ago, farmers were tilling in and burying their ripe crops, dumping their diary products because of transportation problems ,
supply chain breaking down, or insufficient packaging or inadequate size materials for distribution to households.
My counsel to you is to prepare as you normally do, buy rice and beans in quantity because they take up little room and don't require refrigeration
and purchase supplemental protein in the form of canned meat goods, as well as cooking oils, which have a limited shelf life.

"If ye are prepared,..ye shall not fear".
If nothing else, it will give you a sense of security for the future, as nothing will be as cheap as it is today.

I have a pretty decent amount of titles (over 4000 at last count) stored away on Prepping, Home Defense, Survival Gardening, etc. I used to share it with anyone who wanted access but those days are gone. If any members of the Prepper pinglist would like access send me a PM. I’ll check your posting history and if it looks like you’ve been active I’ll send you a code for access.
Anyone else think the author bought a lot of stock in companies that provide emergency food that stays good for 25 years?
During Obama’s first term, we stocked up - took a loooong time to regain closet space as much of the food suitable for long-term emergencies ain’t as tasty as regular fare.
We stocked up 10 years ago. Food plus three blue 65 gallon containers of water which we change out once a year.
