[I got plenty of fresh protein walking around outside in the form of Iguanas.]
Watch out for Salamanders. They have teefs.
Unfortunately, I am living in a hotel right now, due to house fire. Most of my “storage” is packed up where I can’t get to it and I don’t have room to store more in the hotel.
3 months now and they have not started working on the house. Hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks, then another 3-4 months waiting.
That kind of thinking will get you killed in a hurry if things go sideways. The wiser course is to stock up and be ready to hunker down and use those arms to keep what you have.
High on a hillside, the trucks are loading
Everything’s ready to roll
No kidding. Last time I was in a store in CA I felt like I was caught up in a buffalo roundup. I'm talken supersized hogjawed heffers and the whole heard seemed to have feedbags strapped to their faces.
Corn, soybeans, wheat and other foodstuffs yields are way up as well as quality.
They won't have much to take. Liberals are the last ones to be prepared for tough times. Still, it might be satisfying to take their last bottle of Perrier.
Local Walmart was stripped of beef, in all forms (steak, ground beef, roast) within 2 days of the start. Including, of course, toilet paper and paper towels. Panic, of course.
Soup, gone. Bread, gone. Frozen aisle, all cases stripped. Two whole rows of cases. Canned vegetables - gone. Back in March, I mean. Stayed that way, too,for a couple months at least.
Was still stripped of aerosol disinfectant last week. Haven’t looked this week.
Yes, the food aisles above are at about 75% now.
Well, just remember that those who are well stocked with food are also usually well armed, too.
Herd...herd...Herd of heffers.
While I have a couple months food available I dont kid myself. Unless you love on a farm and are self sustaining there is no way to have enough in a global famine. The only foolproof preparation is to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. All else will fail
[I am thinking about buying a mountain of Twinkies. They should last a long time.]
You would think they would. Bought two large packages (this was in the 1990’s). Boxes of lots of Twinkies, maybe 12 or 24 per box. Thought, OK, covered on snacks for about 3 months.
They were green and furry, 100%, in about two weeks.
Went into the kitchen, reached into a box and saw a whole lot of completely-green packages. Yikes.
That’s 20 years ago! However, if it’s canned food, been kept in a cool dry place, it should be good yet. Same with dried foods if vacuum sealed.
[I just came across a coupon for soylent green.]
I go for Soylent Yellow and Soylent Blue.
Call me old-fashioned but I liked the Soylent before Green.
The Green tastes like chicken.
I will be fine...
Pistol at every door...but I'm rural.
Ain't to worried...
Hell we had "go bags" in the 80's in SoCal..
Nothing new under the sun.....
TP cleared out.
Beans of any kind practically gone.
Canned meat gone.
Fresh meat was limited.
It can get worse.
Especially if the smoldering Civil War really erupts.
14 million acres damaged or destroyed in Iowa a couple of weeks ago. To say nothing of Wisconsin and Illinois.
God only knows how many acres flooded in China, or eaten by locusts.
Food’s going to be scarce and expensive shortly.
