I am in Iowa visiting family. We will be going to Wyoming next weekend for the wedding of one of my granddaughters.
After the wedding, one of my granddaughters (sister of the Bride) and her husband want to go to mount Rushmore, I've been invited to go!!
I've always wanted to visit it so I'm very excited. My granddaughter and her husband have heard that Biden wants to tear down that monument id he becomes president so Mrs. R. (GD) wants to see it just in case.
It's been quite a long time since I've had a fun vacation..years..so I'll say hello to those rock images for you all!
Well don’t be in too much of a RUSH to get there.
But when you do go, try to beat the morning RUSH.
What a RUSH you’ll feel when you see it!!
Sorry...
And have a great time :)
It should be a great time, enjoy!
You should given MORE thought before posting that.
Lol
The sad part is it took me awhile to get that :-)
We traveled to Mount Rushmore during the Summer of 2001. Back then there was an evening event at the amphitheater. A ranger would come out at dusk and talk about how the Presidents were chosen that were at Rushmore and then the struggles to create it.
By the time the ranger was done talking it was dark. I was so enthralled with what he was saying that I did not even notice that it had gotten dark. The lights then were flipped on to illuminate the faces. It was such an awesome experience.
If they are still able to offer that event, make sure that you get a picture of your group with the faces illuminated as the backdrop. That alone was worth it.
Enjoy:)
Be sure to take some extra time and visit the Crazy Horse monument, which has been in progress for decades and is nearby.
Mount Rushmore is amazing. We went again a little under two weeks ago to celebrate a couple of birthdays. Have fun!
Thank you all so much for the tips and puns! As much as I’ve traveled this country back and forth, we never took the time to see the sights along the way. DH always wanted to get to our final destination as quickly as possible. Well, I’ve never been to SD so this will be a first. It sounds like that area is full of kewl places to visit.
